Ahh okay, now I see what you mean! That makes sense. I guess it might also be a bit in the eye of the beholder, because for me I can definitely see the strong chemistry already, especially in those scenes. I love the way the ML looks at her with those total puppy eyes lol.

Though maybe I’m biased because I’ve seen quite a few of their interactions while filming, so their dynamic already feels very natural to me.

I loved Blossom a lot too, and I’ve watched several of the director’s other short dramas, so I definitely trust him as well!

I do think the pacing and dynamic between the leads here is meant to be a bit slower to start, since they fundamentally come from very different worlds and are only gradually learning to trust and get to know each other.

In Blossom, the whole dynamic felt more like the leads playing chess with each other (especially the FL), so the tension and chemistry hit almost instantly. Here it feels like they’re starting from a completely different footing, so I can understand why the chemistry might feel different at first.

The ML in Blossom was already intrigued by the FL from their very first interaction, while in ZhuYu they’re not quite there yet at the beginning. But from what we know about the story, the ML eventually ends up completely down bad for her, so I feel like we’re just watching the slow build toward that 👀

Either way, the production quality and direction look amazing so far, so I’m really excited to see how it develops!

I can’t believe this is finally in my “Currently Watching” pile!!
After the first 5 episodes, I’m loving everything about this drama. It’s exactly how I imagined it while reading the novel.

The leads are great and adorable, the humor lands perfectly, and the cinematography is beautiful. Also loved seeing the uncle from GOTD again — I loved him there, and he seems to be playing a similar persona here lol, which is wholesome af.

It’s such an easy, enjoyable watch, and some scenes had me absolutely wheezing. All in all, definitely worth the wait!
