Not very familiar with both leads previous work. I know very little about Meng Zi Yi as Heart Signal panelist and nothing about He Yu so my opinion about hem might not be definitive but are they really considered to be good actors ?

What a very stale way to portray their respective character. You'll tell me it might be the fault of the writing and directors and maybe you're right but oh boy. I'm ten episodes in and so far its too much vignette, to soap opera-ish and repetitive. No overall plot progress, no character development. This on top of the poor acting from the leads.

Meng Zi Yi is undeniably very pretty but her acting has absolutely no depth nor range. Her acting is effortless and it shows. Like many other actresses I suspect she abused of Botox to the point it's hurting her acting skills. Same with He Yu. A pretty face but absolutely no complexity in his acting, basic at best. He's absolutely not convincing in any of his portrayed emotions and is clearly incapable of blending them.

But once again the writing might be partially at fault here considering it's very stereotypical. I'll try to give the drama another chance cause the support roles and sub plots are quite interesting. Kudos to Fan Shuai Qi who's making me reconsider my sexual orientation each time she's on screen.

So far promising. Nothing exciting like S6 or S7 but i have a better feeling with this one than S8 but am I the only one annoyed with how badly produced this season is so far ? I mean some producing choices are lets say very questionable.

First why the constant need to complexify the first meeting with each new season ( the four rooms sorting thing) What a waste of money and time for such a poor result. How many room next year ? Six? With one on the moon? Just bring back S6 simple/peek beginning, house sorting, dinner taking place day 2 or 3, reunifying the two houses. It is still the best premises blueprint to this day but somehow JMZ locked it in a vault with their good sense.

Also during the dinner part apparently no producer had the "talent" to ask the participants to sit evenly at the table to maximize the male/female interactions since IDK it is a freaking dating show. No lets the women sit next to each other at the center of the very long table...

How is it possible to mess up the most basic settings of a dating show when it is already your 9th season. JMZ BSFR!

After a long inner debate about if I should watch this season or not considering who is producing. I'm finally caught up and to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. And I didn't even had expectations.

Shame on the Pd team. No lesson was learned from the flaws of the previous seasons of HS and more recently HP, zero. No attempt was made to even try to slightly refresh/modernize the og formula. HS comes back after a 3 years hiatus and brought absolutely nothing new to the table like the world of dating shows was on hiatus too and meanwhile did not innovate.

Just like HP, this season feels like a failed attempt of remaking the already poor storyline of season 4 (Why? It is not like season 4 was good in the first place). The show is still crippled by the same lazy writing, an casting of season 4 participants looks alike. (the person in charge of the casting is obviously an older straight man into young college woman considering the obvious fixation on age gap and female participants who looks like S4 Jimin's lost sisters.

If drastic changes aren't made for a potential season 6, this show imo is doomed to be cancelled again or at least out shined by it's many competitors and its chinese spin-off.

Could be one. Could be two really. Either way it really depend of if there is a lot to show and the quality and quantity of participants interactions during the next night and day. We also still don't know yet if we're gonna get 12 or 14 or more episodes.

This would be playing with fire. A way bigger fire than the last one when they toyed with Hwi. This time they can't f-this up. YunJae has an army with vicious elements. Pds would not dare to do the same when Wavve executives are probably watching them closely. So possible but unlikely i'd say.

That's ok. That little force of nature YunJae will defeats all the odds. I believe in him. I think every setback was good luck in disguise that pushed him in the right direction, out of his comfort zone, where he needed to be, to do and say the right thing at the right time, to somehow make his way to HJ's complicated heart like no other. If this happens their ost will have been the real spoiler all along. Can't wait.

Those. Haven't found the one I'm talking about though but four people (EHJ, LHJ, JH, SW if i remember right) picked YJ as the naughty boy/ rascal type. I think they might have this opinion of him because he bagged baddie HJ

Don't remember who exactly. It was from a promo slide. The one in which HJ picked YJ as Heo Dang Mi type and YJ picked HJ as the tsundere type.

So true. People are freaking out about this date like its from the current show an has impact of the reshoot timeline. Well it doesn't. It means and changed nothing really. If anything it proves things cooled down between HJ&SW. The real test will be HJ&YJ's date. I think YJ will shock us all with how bravely he will pursue HJ and win him over. There's a reason a lot of other contestant are calling him " a rascal"

We also still don't know about "why HJ suddenly changed his mind about YJ after ep4 or if he really did tbh". It should be adressed in the upcoming episodes and the reason behind this change is not what it seems to be. So personally I'm really unbothered by HJ&SW's date #0.

In ep2 HJ said he was curious about the newcomers then if there will be returning participants. He put the newcomers first in his sentence. In psychology it's called a first-mention bias. It indicate a primary cognitive focus. His priority at the time was meeting new peoples (but the Pds could have asked him to rephrase)

In same ep SW said he partially came back for someone in particular. He didn't get the chance to connect with this person , is curious about him and he'll try to present himself better and make an impression. For me it's giving HJ stopped pursuing him after their first date which is weird considering how well it went.

SW grand plan is proving me right cause you can clearly see SW went all in to conquer HJ. First date card, Pikachu pajamas, Pikachu gift, "love" letter, learning to cook HJ favorite recipe, etc. Its not the behavior of someone who is the one who distanced himself from the other but rather the desperate attempt to make someone fall for you because you failed last time.

Also considering the evident downgrade of the two HJxSW dates and what happened in ep7 with YJ. I'm confident HJ will give his chance to YJ and things will kick off from there. With SM in the equation it makes even more sense. His perseverance with SW is a clear sign his interest in SW was at some point of previous filming reciprocated and things are still possible for those two.

So the reason why Pd team is making HJxSW eg obvious now by dropping their first date is because HJxSW eg will be obvious in the next episodes..? Make it make sense girl. Well why bother to make it obvious now if it will be in two days if not to make YJ fans to quit the show..? Wouldn't that be counterproductive considering they're a huge portion of the viewership ?

I personally think the timing indicate quite the opposite. Pds would have dropped it sooner in order for people not to invest in HJxYJ ship but they didn't. They kept it until now and releasing it now to stir the discussions online probably because dropping it later would no longer make sense and be out of touch if HJxYJ sails in next eps. Just like with HgJxJH's date. Pds Team probably dropped it this early in order for people to move on as we"re getting close to the end and HgJxMS might start to appear in next eps as eg. Doing it later would have been unfair to HgJxMS and cruel to JH.

The narrative online since last ep was already "SWxHJ are eg" doubling down now makes no sense and only hurts viewership. In fact the ideal scenario would have been to air this first date next week after HJxSW's third date and HJ has rejected YJ as a way for people to realize HJxSW always were the perfect match since previous shoot and they should not be sad for YJ cause he never stood a chance.

Only with participants, because they're the only ones who signed the ndas and currently are under SNs ban. Friends and family usually do not speak about spoilers out of respect and to not get their friend or family member into trouble. First, the chess board photo on valentine's day, now the mutual following of HJ and YJ's bro only few days before next episodes, potentially the most pivotal moment of YJ's journey in HisMan4. This is the safest way YJ has to tell his fans to not give up on him and HJ really. I don't think YJ and his brother would play with that if YJ ended up being rejected by HJ. It would be cruel.

It's not clear yet if Feb 20 we will get ep8 only or 8&9. Schedule is a mess atm. We also don't know if the show is 12, 14 or more episodes. One thing is sure: it's confirmed the single episode thing could happen again if needed.

You can't see it in english subtitles since its a Korean word that has no equivalent in english but you can spot the many 형 (Hyung) in the Korean subtitles. HJ said "Hyung ! Hyung ! is it awkward for you ?" in a playful way There's even an miss translation here HJ didn't say "because i'm older" since he's one year younger than YJ. Right after you can hear YJ's being shy. HJ has game for sure It was intentional.

In Korean "Dongsaeng" is "younger brother" and "Hyung" is "older brother". Playing either card means to tease someone about the age gap. Some Korean no matter their sexual orientation like when a potential partner is older or younger than them.
