Is there a mathematical formula for love? Heart Signal is a suspenseful romance reality show following the lives of ten housemates, all of them meeting each other for the first time, living together in “signal house” for one month. Ten housemates consist of five males and five females. Then, there are these people in the studio, known as the “predictors,” secretly peeping at these ten housemates via camera lenses. The predictors, all coming from various backgrounds, will try to guess the housemates’ secret crushes by analyzing their interaction, nonverbal communication, etc. (Source: Welcon.kocca.kr/en) Edit Translation

Hear me out...

Whenever you gonna love, hate or have ambiguous feelings about this season is all dependent on whenever you like Youkyung - she was the main character and the editing was focusing on her a lot. Since she was my favorite, I loved the season a lot.

Does this season deliver a lot on love lines? Not really. There is exactly one ship with solid progression and if you are not into these two people, nothing will do much for you since most pairings felt like Titanic to crush from the start. That said, what this show for sure delivered for me are friendships and fun interactions. This felt far more like a slice of life than romance genre.

The friendship between the girls was amazing to watch and if you add Queen Jun Hyeon it gets even better. I love that no matter how complicated the romantic relationships were, it never felt like it negatively affects the friendships themselves. Bromance between Jun Hyeon and Seowon? Amazing. Seowon and Youkyung as besties? Perfection.

Obviously there are major flaws too. I don't even want to talk about PPLs, these were a joke. Usually I don't mind these, I view them as literal adds, but when they used pairing interactions to sell products it makes you doubt how real their interactions were in the first place and how much of it was scripted.

What's more, Jeong Gyu Ri issue. Do I care what's the truth? Not really. Sure she is participating in a variety show, but in my eyes she is still a normal private person, I don't care about what happens outside of the show. But I hated how the production team dealt with it. Staying silent, then saying they are checking out the truth, then silence, and then just writing her off completely. Especially since she did in fact bring some spice into the show - that legendary truth game!

Then the forced editing. If by the end you start showing clips from earlier moments that you cut out of the show to confuse the viewers into believing there was more hesitation and conflict than there really was - that's not clever, that's dumb. There is a limit to how much you can manipulate the footage before it becomes a full clownery. I get it, you want people to keep guessing, but you need to have some limits.

Still, I liked this season a lot and I hope we will get a special episode or two with the cast watching some clips from the episodes and interacting with each other more.

I Have THOUGHTS & I'm Not Waiting for the Finale

Every new season, we convince ourselves, "Maybe this time it'll be different." And every new season, we're proven wrong. Yes, I'm talking about the painfully predictable storyline where almost every guy ends up chasing the same girl. It's frustrating because it leaves other contestants overlooked, with less screen time and fewer chances to build connections that viewers can actually invest in.

Also, Why are we STILL deciding dates with rock-paper-scissors and guessing games? I don't mind it in the beginning because it helps people mix around, but by the middle of the season especially in Japan I was literally screaming, "We're STILL doing rock-paper-scissors?!" Come on now!!

And yet... I still couldn't stop watching.

Why? Bcz if there are participants you're genuinely rooting for, you keep watching for them. And No matter how hard I tried, THAT GIRL (Yu Gyeong ) never gave a reason to dislike her. Whether she's on a date, joking around in the house, or just chatting with the others, she brings an energy that makes every scene enjoyable. She is soo cheerful yet sensible it’s hard to belive she’s 23 only! Plus she’s a genuine girls' girl. She maintained distance from Seongmin for her unni… Now, is it her fault that three guys decided to pursue her? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Clock it.
I know viewers are exhausted by "everyone falls for one girl" that every dating show seems determined to recycle. But blaming Yu Gyeong for that makes no sense. She didn’t manipulate everyone into chasing her.

I was rooting for Minju, Seowon and Yu Gyeong this season!

MY GIRL. Min Ju reminded me so much of myself that it was actually painful to watch. She kept giving, supporting, understanding everyone else first until she completely fell apart herself. She is the ultimate girl's girl. She comforted Yu Gyeong, stood by So Yun, supported Gyu Ri... she was always there for everyone.
And I have THOUGHTS on Seong min. Sir...why on earth would you tell Min Ju she was one of your two options if your heart was already somewhere else? And then this man had the nerve to say he felt relieved after telling her??
My blood pressure actually went up hearing that .I don't care how he explained it afterwards. To me, it was selfish. Mixed signals are still mixed signals, whether you intended them or not.FREE MY GIRL MINJU FROM THIS GUY!

NOW MY MAN OF THE SEASON. SEO WON❤️
Where do people like Seo Won even exist? Because this man walked straight out of a K-drama. He's literally a green flag written by women. My first impression of him was SO wrong. I thought he was rude. Turns out he was the sweetest, funniest, most emotionally intelligent man in the entire house.he’s Everyone's biggest cheerleader. Meanwhile, he was quietly hurting himself. I genuinely couldn't understand how Gyu Ri wasn't falling head over heels for him. But then again, feelings aren't logical.

I'm actually so happy So Yun saw what the rest of us were seeing. She appreciated him for who he is, and together they just make sense. I WISHED THEY WERE THE ENDGAME. Their dates were soo fun to watch.

Now... let's talk about Wu Yeol and Yu Gyeong!!

I have never rooted for a couple on a dating show as desperately as I rooted for these two to end up together.
Every scene with them feels like it's straight out of a K-drama the lingering eye contact, the effortless banter, the unspoken yearning, and those adorable dates. This is exactly what I want to see in dating shows: cute, fun dates, undeniable chemistry, and those intense, heart-fluttering moments that make you smile without realizing it.
And I'm sorry, but the way Yu Gyeong literally glows whenever she's with Wu Yeol? She looks the happiest around him, and you simply cannot convince me otherwise.

And Wu Yeol's character development is one for dating show history to remember!! Bcz Woah the way he became a yearner !! These two genuinely look like the leads of a K-drama who somehow wandered onto a dating show and I'm absolutely here for it.
Also, updating my review after watching finale just to say THAT HUG AT YHE END HEALED ME. I am soo happy my ship sailed ❤️
