i had read on twitter that they were only taking trainees not under any contracts (which would mean a potential permanent group rather than a temporary group), but based on the boysplanet.net info, applicants can be personal trainees, contracted trainees, or debuted artists. so they either scraped that idea or the info i saw had been wrong.
It was interesting watching this for the first time years after it aired. There are a lot of contestants on here who are still active, although some have sadly disappeared. It was fun seeing the interactions and friendships, and there's a lot of good performances. Some of the editing is weird at times tho, especially for the girls team.
It is sad it wasn't like The Unit where both teams got to debut and it was just that the team that won got to debut first. Though, with the way YG messed everything up (I still can't believe he wanted these idols to give half a year for like 3 years for this group) I guess it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
I think it's worth watching if you're a fan or interested of any of the participants but haven't watched it yet.
I'm rewatching this now after many years and I actually like it more than when I originally watched it. Perhaps…
That being said I still don't love this drama. I think it's worth a watch but it does have flaws.
I don't agree with others that the romance should have been between K2 and Choi Yoo Jin though. I do think she has very obvious feelings for him, but I don't see him returning the feelings. He felt sorry for her more than anything.
I'm rewatching this now after many years and I actually like it more than when I originally watched it. Perhaps partially because back then I watched this and City Hunter right after watching Healer, all 3 action-heavy romances, and they didn't give me the same feelings Healer gave me. I feel like I can appreciate this drama more for what it is now.
I'm not necessarily bothered that they're doing the backstory first, sometimes adaptations need to change things to work better in different mediums. I am worried about it being half the confirmed series length though (we're getting two seasons but it looks like both are only 8 episodes? so in total it's actually just a standard drama length). Also a bit worried about drama-original characters.
I'll try to be optimistic. As long as the adaptation does the characters justice and tells a good story (even if it diverts from the original) I'll be content.
If you're a fan of Leverage (2008 american ver, though i guess the drama too) then you should give this a shot! The twists and turns kept me on my toes and despite a few minor plot holes and sometimes odd pacing, I thoroughly enjoyed the film.
