so like... the ML is definitely lying/pretending about having feelings for the FL right? like he's just doing that so the old advisors/court people won't pester him about getting a concubine yeah?
that's how it seems to me bc he may be having some feelings deep down but this is all definitely for show and its soooo painful watching the FL actually catching feelings already bc of this 🥲
🤗hi, if I may …You were watching this drama now, after having seen many similar ones. I might also think…
Even if this was the only short drama I'd seen (and it is only one of the ones I have actually finished), I would still have the same feelings about the plot.
I think this is a little overhyped- it's definitely beautiful and looks way better than most short dramas I've seen, and all the actors do a pretty good job, but the plot is still pretty typical for a short drama- overloaded and all over the place.
The general's mansion gotta be one of the least secure places in dramaland lmao.
I find the synopsis/character dynamics interesting. It is not a typical poor girl/rich+powerful man dynamic. It's not quite the reverse of that trope either.
I like the current leads, but I think I'd check this out regardless of the cast (unless it's someone I really dislike)
From what I read, they don't end up together in the original novel. The way they chose to end their relationship here was quite abrupt but I understood the intention. I think some of the comments either weren't paying any attention or were exaggerating.
Getting into spoilers-
Basically it ends with Nanfeng regretting letting him go, but he has moved on or isn't willing to take a step with her again. After a bit of trying, she realizes this and that's how their relationship concludes.
As I said, it is abrupt but I think a lot of the people saying there was no conclusion just need to stick to kids shows that spell every little thing out to them lol.
So basically, she missed her chance after rejecting him. But they are still each lead's best friend, so if you want to view it as maybe one day they could try again you could. But it was not really hinted that way imo.
can i just say, it's really refreshing to see a historical drama actually acknowledge that women don't necessarily bleed (and in reality most should not with proper preparation) on their "first night". so many historical dramas treat bleeding as expected and i get people thought that back then but it's so archaic when it's clear the writer(s) themselves also believe it.
Wow, I honestly assumed that while they wouldn't include Xie Zheng getting drugged w the aphrodisiac in the drama but the reuters seem to suggest they are including that detail. I thought they would just do a regular poison/drug that makes him weak/sleepy and she would carry him out. (although that could be the case but he's still Like That w changyu anyway 😂)
I am wondering how many scenes from earlier in the novel where he saves her after has to leave her village. From the river rescue to the stuff that happens at the old woman's house 🤔
Finally finished. Through around ep 15 my rating was around 8.5, but my final rating is 7. Okay for a one-time…
Regarding Esther Yu in particular, in this comment section or reviews you will find both people relentlessly complaining about her "baby voice" and her fans making long winded statements about stats that have nothing to do with this drama itself.
I don't mind Esther Yu's "cutesy" thing all that much. I have enjoyed her previous roles a lot (after all, it was LGIEF that started my cdrama binge journey at the end of last year). Unfortunately, Wei Zhi was just lacking a lot of substance as a character for me. In other roles with similar personalities, we saw a lot more of their more serious sides. I don't know if she just phoned it in, or if the director didn't care to ask for more takes, but this is definitely the weakest performance of hers that I have seen.
I don't think it's egregious like some people in this comment section (like seriously what's up with the crazy moral judgments just because she acts cute?? please calm down) but I hope her other projects will be a better showing.
i don't understand why they have to throw in the "disapproving rich parent" trope as the 3rd act breakup/conflict driver.... making it hard for me to want to finish this drama
this was a midway drop for me unfortunately. just not feeling the rom or the com or the plot :/the bit in the…
wow- reading that the grandma got a last minute "redemption" (aka says sawwy once and then everything is suddenly fine?) makes me glad i dropped it. just reading the comments makes me mad
this was a midway drop for me unfortunately. just not feeling the rom or the com or the plot :/
the bit in the beginning when they were in the game world was the most interesting to me. i'd like to see CHW in an alchemy of souls-esque historical fantasy setting. (maybe i'm just too cdrama brained right now???haha)
I don’t understand why it says it’s on WeTV, it’s not.
the network says Tencent Video, so when airs it will likely be available on WeTV bc that's Tencent's international platform. Someone probably linked wetv instead of tencent's site by mistake but its basically the same thing

wow this is uhhh kinda going off the rails 😅

Okay for a one-time watch if you are looking for something light to pass the time. Or if you are a fan of any of the main cast.
