Read what you wrote again. It is hyping up the drama, making it look like it's a huge hit. It became most talked about because viewers were mocking its poor quality, from direction to acting. Its only saving grace is that the hottest dramas when it dropped were almost winding down, so ranking first in that scenario is not something to crow about. If you look at Datawin on 7/27, for example, the first 3 dramas have 1.886 (Overdo), 1.867 (BlossomOfPower - ended 7/26) and 1.574 (KeyToThePhoenixHeart - ended 7/22). Dismal numbers for highest ranked dramas; none even reached 2. So, when checking how well a drama is faring, ranking is not enough. You need to understand what the numbers mean.

The numbers in Chinese charts Datawin, Maoyan and VLinkage are bad. I didn't include Yunhe as its patent was rejected this year and it was implicated in the data manipulation scandal involving Pursuit of Jade.
In above 3 charts, the numbers haven't crossed the marks that indicate this is a hit. This hasn't crossed 2.5 in Datawin, 9800 in Maoyan and 85 in VLinkage. Sorry to say, this is flopping considering its budget and how anticipated this drama was.

See, this is one reason I compare zlh fans or supporters to Trump cultists. Zlh pr team has been known to use water armies to bully other artists on Chinese social media and I read that posts about his racism and misogyny are being deleted. So I won't put it past them to use the same tactic internationally. There is a feature in MDL where, if many accounts report the same post as spam or some such, that post will be deleted. It's not a secret that accounts use this feature to bully other accounts they perceive as not sympathetic to their idols. Considering how MDL has allowed fans to tamper with drama scores, e.g. giving 10/10 score to mediocre dramas of their idols and 1/10 score to high-quality dramas of other artists, it seems MDL editors or administrators are helpless against this monster (rabid fans) this site has unleashed.

I was making an analogy between zhl fans and Trump cultists. Whether you're a zlh fan or not is irrelevant. I have encountered both in social media and they behave the same, thus the analogy. They're both blinded by celebrity worship and would never see reason or logic about their idol. For example, zlh was exposed to be racist (virtually saying Southeast Asians are ugly) and misogynist (asked a female talk show host if she understood Interstellar), yet a lot of his Southeast Asian female fans sound like they're ready to follow him to the ends of the earth. Same as Trump who is known to be racist and misogynist but have non-white female supporters who would follow him to the ends of the earth. Yup, the same.

Undoubtedly, semiconductor chips are relevant to China-Taiwan relations, but what does zlh have anything to do with them? Details of semiconductor technology with respect to China-Taiwan relations belong in another topic, not in an article about an actor being invoked in China-Taiwan tensions.

Did you really expect a simple Yes or No answer to that question? Netflix is highly proprietary about its data, even Flixpatrol has to make up its own aggregation algorithm. And you expect ME to know that? The important thing is that, whether C-Ent manipulated Netflix numbers or not is irrelevant. The fraud was committed in Tencent, iQiyi and Yunhe with the goal of HYPING up this drama. And they did succeed. Among so many cdramas, many of them with better quality than poj, it received the most hype. But just because it got massively hyped shouldn't bury the fact that the fraud happened.

I was drawing analogy between zlh deniers of fraud and Trump cultists. The analogous objects don't need to be on the same level, they just need to have some comparable aspects, like in this case, fans and cultists refusing to listen to facts about their idols that don't conform to their agenda. Another comparable aspect is how fraud does not bother them. And this is one aspect that I will never allow to be dropped and normalized.

There were many complaints about the data manipulation from viewers themselves, but like Epstein victims, they were not believed by zlh fans. If you are really serious about this, there are many discussions about this on Weibo, X and Reddit, but I've had enough experience with Trump cultists to know that no amount of evidence will wake deniers up so why bother? The only thing that those who are anti-fraud can do is make sure this issue does not go away. The data manipulation aimed to create hype. And hype it got. Not only were the viewership data manipulated, but the drama score on MDL also got the same treatment. 9.1 is ridiculous for this drama. It's nowhere near as good as Nirvana in Fire.
