Strong Leads, Frustrating Side Characters
“Filing for Love” ended up being a pleasant surprise, mainly because of its characters, they were definitely the strongest part of the drama.
The female lead really stands out. Besides being absolutely beautiful, what impressed me the most was how she conveys emotions just through her eyes. There are moments where she barely needs dialogue, you can clearly tell when she’s being sarcastic, when she’s mocking a situation, or when she’s hiding what she truly feels. It’s a very subtle performance, but it elevates the character a lot.
The male lead is also very solid. He shines especially in scenes where he’s frustrated, his reactions feel natural and believable, which makes it easier to connect with his character and emotions.
As for the supporting characters… it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
The second male lead was honestly a bit annoying. His whole “savior-dependent” kind of love felt limiting and repetitive at times. That said, it did seem like he had some growth towards the end, which gave his arc a bit more closure.
On the other hand, the second female lead was the most frustrating character for me. Unlike others, I didn’t feel like she actually learned anything. There was this sense of stagnation that made her really hard to like until the very end.
Overall, “Filing for Love” is worth watching mainly because of the performances and character dynamics. Even with some weaker choices in the supporting arcs, it stays engaging thanks to how strong the main leads are.
