Do you just want him to do nothing and just keep getting jumped like the stereotypicall BL trope of damsel in distress. And the fact you cannot fathom a character like him to be doing "those bad things" to save himself. I am sorry but I am on his side. The King is also sus. He killed the consort because she knew tooo much and probably took the son to be out of it until his preparartions were set.
