The Empresses are clearly trying to position their sons to be future emperors. 2ML may like that but I have hope for ML’s brother — he seems nice so far.
Yes! I don’t know if it was that way in the book, but I can’t find any logic behind ML letting the newlyweds…
No one expects the princess to have a happy ending at this point 🙄 I’m very glad we can adjust playback speed in the app — started to watch all of her scenes and/or 2ML scenes at 1.5x 😬
Clearly the plot requires that she goes to Jinxiu and the writers want to put the ML on the highest pedestal by…
Honestly, his decisions in Ep. 17 & 18 make him look not very smart. Letting the newlyweds escape is bad in multiple ways and ignoring imperial decree for no good reason is dumb (doctors were there; he wasn’t needed). Kind of disappointed in screenwriters because of this 🙁
FL lost to ML during the tournament, so — in the drama — she’s slightly weaker originally. Now, of course, she’s way, way weaker in her current condition.
So wait she was also a slave in that sunken abyss place and ended up in some heavenly realm as a warrior?
No, at least, it hasn’t been hinted at yet. For now she’s being presented as a noblewoman who became a warrior. Until she lost once, got poisoned, and now has to find a cure for her poison ☠️

Would we all feel better if 2ML pretended to love her and convinced her to steal the token so they could escape together and be forever and ever and ever? That would be a more common way to do this but they probably could make her into a more sympathetic character if she fell for his charms and got hurt in the end.
Side note, what is with the doctor lady always asking FL to leave with her and live together at her hospital villa.…
It was understandable the first time around (before the leads were officially together), but now it just feels strange. ML & FL aren’t hiding their feelings for each other and the doctor still wants FL to leave with her.
Other than the relatively short romantic portion. Anyone else seriously aggravated with today’s episodes?
Yes! I don’t know if it was that way in the book, but I can’t find any logic behind ML letting the newlyweds escape and behind him defying imperial decree for no good reason (doctors were there and FL was asleep anyway).
The trailers for the next episodes (19-20) make me wonder how this will play out. I think they've telegraphed…
People have guessed that it was that character as the bad guy (apparently there was a poster where he was holding that mask, lol). I totally understand and share your concerns though. This drama had been so good for episodes 1-16 and now in 17 & 18 they have ML making decisions which are very hard to explain — letting the couple escape and disobeying the emperor for no good reason (FL was in a care of doctors so he didn’t need to be there and could step away for a bit).
Does anyone have any explanations for the baffling decisions made by the ML in episodes 17-18? (spoilers below…
(1) Why did ML actually let the newlyweds escape? He knows 2ML is very evil, that The Princess isn’t thinking rationally, and — more importantly — this escape makes life very difficult for him as we are beginning to find out.
(2) Why did he ignore The Emperor’s order to come to the palace? FL was still unconscious and there was literally nothing he could’ve done for her (the doctors were there anyway). To make it even more baffling, he DID end up going to the palace and FL woke up when he wasn’t around. So it’d have been better for him to leave sooner so he could be there when she wakes up.
Yeah no one is bashing the dumbass emperor and eunuch for leaving such an important token just there for anyone…
Thanks for the info. The Su token in this drama didn’t appear all that fancy but I guess that’s okay. Maybe I should start thinking of tokens in historical dramas like police/governent IDs & badges in modern dramas. Most people don’t check those either if you flash them for 1 second from far away 😁

Serious historical question: how did people recognize/verify tokens? Did guards/vendors/etc. have drawings of tokens they could use as a reference? It’s not specific just to this drama but a question I’ve had for some time. Many of tokens shown in dramas don’t look very complicated to counterfeit either, so wouldn’t that be an issue too? 🤔
