24 eps
Netflix isn’t always correct for ongoing releases. Only 17 episodes have been released so far (16 on Netflix and Viki; 17 on source platform).

would you guys rec this show? the cdramas i've watched and liked are l&p, lbfad, hidden love, the first frost…
Maybe worth waiting until all episodes are out so people can give their verdict on episodes 18-24. In the meantime, watch WIFTY (When I Fly Towards You). It’s from the same author as TFF and HL but very light and with no needless stress & drama (only 24 episodes x 30-35 minutes).

Title Our Generation Spoiler
It kind of is a tired trope. It's implied he knows that if he tells her he's struggling, she'll do anything to…
Totally agree with your sentiment about this trope.
For TFF I was thinking about the first separation (after high school graduation); the second one (escape to Hong Kong) is more of a safety issue. I just appreciate that — for first separation — the author/writers explained everything fully and most people could see the logic in such actions by FL given her mental state.

Sigh, so the book handled it about the same as the drama. I agree that the trope is very tired and is usually ineffective (because so many dramas use it for no reason). The last great use of it was TFF 💔

It’s actually a really, really good drama that does some things excellently. The friendship between characters…
LMLMV is pure food p**n, especially early on during wild cooking scenes. Snowstorm is my winter drama now :)

Have you watched “Fake It Till You Make It”? It’s only 14 episodes long but it’s my favorite realistic adult relationship C or K drama (just ignore the name, lol). It’s about busy professional people in their late 20s (2FL is slightly younger). Great soundtrack too.

ML will next be in high school in Episode 10. That’s all I can say 🤫

Hey, look kn the bright side — unlike in The Princess Royal, the leads aren’t trying to kill each other, at least 😁

I think writers like to set stories in 1990s/2000s so that heroes don’t have access to smartphones and can’t FaceTime or WeChat.

No worries, it’s good to chat and that’s how I discover new dramas to watch (ratings aren’t very reliable). My favorite historical C-drama is “Are You the One”. The recent “Youthful Glory” was also very good. Still trying to finish “Prisoner of Beauty” and “In the Name of Blossom” (second season of “Flourished Peony”). But I generally prefer dramas to have happy endings (or, at least, open endings with possibly happy ending), so that rules out many dramas, lol

Possibly only leads in Our Generation interact less, lol

Got it! I will watch YAMY after I finish New Life Begins with BJT. So far really enjoying it too.

Yes, no harm in giving it a shot. But another thing to keep in mind is that ML & FL don’t interact a lot. He’s on the naval base and constantly busy with training. She’s running around investigating things. To make them meet, writers have to come up with ways for him to rescue her or encounter her on his missions. No one is expecting second “Fireworks of My Heart” here but come on 😳

Thank you! Both of those shows were already very high on my to-watch list but I moved them to Currenly Watching right now so I can start them next :)

Yes, it’s unfortunate. Even when things are kind of exciting, screenwriters are being silly. For example, ML/2ML’s unit goes to assist with flood relief & rescue… and 2ML ends up being talked into diving (with no scuba gear) to rescue a painting kids were planning to take to Beijing. As if a painting is worth him nearly dying; and it took away time from rescuing more people. Not to mention a simple fact that they are an elite special forces unit — who sends those to do flood rescues. They would be kept at home base for more important missions.

Juat to show how boring Rose & Gun is — I’m generally a fan of slow-burn dramas and even I find it boring. Again, this is coming from someone who has watched “Amidst a Snowstorm of Love” multiple times and really likes “Love Me, Love My Voice”. Those dramas are about playing pool/winter and about singing/cooking. And even they were more exciting than watching R&G (will finish it only because of FL and 2FL).

You are welcome! Honestly, I’d not recommend Rose & Gun. The story between two lead pairs is pretty good (not great) but the show spends so much time on very boring military stuff related to Chinese Navy. And it’s not even the fact the show is promoting the Navy, the worst part is that it’s very, very boring. It’s almost exclusively repetitive training with a bit of training missions. I am watching a lot of it at 2-3x speed just to get through 😒😳🥺

I wanted to reply this but I havent watched ep 15 yet, so I cant give you the comparison. But this is what I struggle…
The FL actress who ended up playing 2FL in TFF? I’ve never seen any of the lead actors previously when I watched WIFTY and still enjoyed it. But I also tend to focus on story/screenplay. Even a great actor can’t make up for dumb decisions made by writers. But a cast not full of stars can function with a solid screenplay, like WIFTY and “Meeting You” (2020). P.S. I apologize to the casts of WIFTY and MY for not knowing them 😳

BTW, have you watched When I Fly Towards You? Same author as TFF and HL but very quick (24 episodes x 30-35 min). Pure joy without needless drama and tropes. One of my rare 10/10 ❤️
