I wanted to reply this but I havent watched ep 15 yet, so I cant give you the comparison. But this is what I struggle…
*sigh* I will have to see what the drama writers decide to do now. I honestly really, really love the feel of the drama, warm friendships and nice relationships between families. So it pains me a bit to have author ✍️ stumble like that. But still, this is probably going to turn out better than “Eat Run Love” 🙄

Thank you! I also don’t agree with JQX leaving YT. Even more so because she’s already traumatized after first separation (and he’s aware of how hard it was for her). I love TFF and think it’s one of the rare examples where a separation is justified (and they weren’t officially dating anyway). Viewers are shown all the terrible, horrible, abusive events FL went through so we became a lot more sympathetic to her. Heck, even the cute sleepwalking is a sign of terrible damage to her mental health. In this drama/book, however, it’s just financial hardship for ML & his family; totally unnecessary to hide.

This trope is so generic. Unless you are a novice viewer, you can only roll your eyes as it’s used in so many Asian dramas 🙄. “I will break up / leave you for your own good” and “it’s better if you hate me than if you discovered some SECRET about me/my family/my pet hamster 🐹 “

I’m pretty sure about happy ending for the main pair. And, true, sometimes it’s best not to think too hard about realism. For example, I love The First Frost but I bet some people would find ML’s actions a tad stalker-ish 😬

That is what I said! These were recommended by the same users. And When Life Gives You Tangerines???
Oh, yeah, I also remember that. Both TBT and TFF were good dramas, no need to cause strife. Thanks to all those trolls I learned about Block functionality here 😬

Thank you for the additional context. In the drama they do show one conversation with ML & cousin and then ML gifts FL shoes & lipstick from cousin’s wife. But I’m not questioning ML’s decision to stay and help the cousin (that’s normal). I’m curious how the book justify ML not explaining anything to FL about the situation? He didn’t even need to go into details, just say that family is going through tough times and it will be hard to keep in touch (or something along those lines). Perhaps that scene was done differently in the book… I vaguely knew what was about to happen & why (thanks to spoilers here, lol) but still thought he could’ve handled the separation better.

Yes, I remember that craziness during the airing of TFF. Wish people would get along and stop causing drama. Being a fan of one drama/actor/actress doesn’t mean they should hate on others. I vaguely recall a campaign against Esther Yu which was supposedly caused by fans of Zhao Lu Si because “The Story of Pearl Girl” wasn’t doing as well as “Love Game in the Eastern Fantasy” (or maybe it was a third party trying to start fandom wars).

Thanks! Let’s hope for the best 🙏

Got it! I loved TFF. Insuppose there are too many people with nothing better to do than to cause drama. That’s also why I don’t actively seek out entertainment news either (so. much. drama 😳)

Thanks! The book fate (not being able to get over him) is disappointing. I’d prefer they each find their own happiness then.

Fair points. Let’s be honest, in real life if we were FL’s friends we’d tell her to stay away from ML and people like him. IRL, the couple would have serious trust issues when they got back together. Like, is ML going to leave again when something goes wrong? 😳😒🥺

I actually don’t mind slow-burn dramas when they are done well, like Amidst a Snowstorm of Love (with same lead actress) or Love Me, Love My Voice. But very often C-drama writers can only do good beginning and end and then fill up the middle with nonsensical stuff like breakup, misunderstandings, etc.

I can’t speak for everyone but — even if we knew all the things happening in his life — leaving FL like that without any explanation or communication is not a good move. This trope is so, so overused in dramas by this point and it almost never works. Viewers are probably very tired of such situations and only get annoyed with them.

Why are some TFF fans down rating OG? I loved TFF and don’t really see a lot of similarities. If anything, OG is more like WIFTY.

Where they trying yo shorten the episodes to make it only 24 So they made the ML act like a guest. 😂😂😂
This was always meant to be a 24 episode drama per all reports. Some scenes were cut but that always happens with any drama. Even 40-episode dramas have deleted scenes.

In the novel they don’t end up together? They showed them together quite a bit in the drama so far, so I thought for sure they’d be the second pair. They are going to college in different cities but maybe after that, at least.

Okay catching up to this just got to ep12 and i have somethings to say. First of let me say I was waiting for…
“When I Fly Towards You” was 24 short episodes (30-35 minutes each compared to 45 minutes here) and managed to tell the full story for 5 main characters. So I appreciate them at least not dragging this out too long — if this had 40 episodes, writers would have to come up with something ridiculous to fill in the time. But it does have more of a friendship vibe compared to romance. And, hey, at least the leads aren’t trying to kill each other like in TRP! 🤣

I wish they would relabel this not as romcom but just coming of age slice of life for one individual and one individual…

It’s actually a really, really good drama that does some things excellently. The friendship between characters is shown very well. The core families are also remarkably nice and supportive of each other. But it’s definitely not a romance-first drama (at least so far), more like friendships and slice-of-life.

The app doesn’t have “romcom” tag. But it has “1990s” which is clearly wrong because it’s set in 2000s. That’s why I personally ignore categories and tags 😒
