Agree with others that the main couple is giving The First Frost vibes. Both feature MLs who would do anything to protect FLs & help them achieve their dreams. Very touching 🥰

Flourished Peony / In the Name of Blossom kind of killed my appetite for longer dramas. I love the cast & production but storyline was absurdly drawn out. They could’ve easily made it one 40-episode series instead of 36+24 🙄

Wait, when did they relax the rules? I actually liked not having super-long dramas because most of the time C-drama writers make things longer artificially by inserting unneeded/tired tropes to pad episode count 🙄

This ending is good enough to where season 2 wouldn’t be necessary. Probably the main season 2 I’m looking forward (if it happens) is The Immortal Ascension. Although it will take 8-10 seasons to do the full story 😁

Out of curiosity, why wouldn’t the main leads be able to do a second season? Are their filming schedules booked up 3-4 years in advance already? This is a genuine question because I’m not too familiar with what it takes to get a second season made in C-dramas (since so few dramas get second seasons).

It was NGNL’s spinoff “Spice Up Our Love” which, frankly, was much better than the original series even though I love actors in NGNL overall.

It’s was Spice Up Our Love, a 2-episode spinoff of No Gain No Love (it was better then the original series).

There was a show where they made fun of this trope by doing a fake out — the truck did what 99.9% of drivers do and avoided the person.

Haha… I can’t remember others but I know I’ve seen them :) I’ve always assumed using hairpins as weapons was a norm for historical dramas but maybe it’s a recent trend 😁🤣

The hairpin stabbing scene in Are You the One was so great 🫣🥰🥺

Other recent 2MLs got a lot more hate (this one isn’t that bad). For example, 2ML in Dynamite Kiss (we didn’t even want 2FL to end up with him, she was so much better, 😆) or 2ML in Positively Yours (he’s written poorly… well, the entire drama is written poorly).

Haha… ML in WCR’s previous historical drama (Are You the One) wasn’t poisoned but he did break a leg.

I think the rules may be changing in the near future, but for now we have to just accept it and be understanding. Like for “When Destiny Brings the Demon” the creators must have gotten censors drunk because they give big hints and almost say it out loud that it was NOT a dream; and then they even posted a little video with text & photos on Weibo that takes place after heroes meet in modern world (that video confirms everything was real).
