So far, this is the best novel adaptation I’ve seen. The faithfulness to the story, the mood, and the atmosphere…
I agree with your point and TXW is certainly great in this role.
Would like to add that Are You the One also featured a female lead who was feminine but was highly skilled in everything from household chores to business to fighting.
But I don’t know which novel came out first so maybe the trend started with Zhu Yu :)
If it keeps going like this, this will be the best cdrama I've watched to date.
We are getting spoiled by having How Dare You!? and this drama back to back. I love it so far and hope the writers continue to do good job with the remaking episodes 🙏
How Dare You!? may have handled it the best — the emperor threatened to kill ministers (and killed some of them…
To be clear, I was talking about HDY drama (1 season) not donghua (2 seasons… so far?). I only watched a bit of donghua before deciding to wait for live action drama to avoid spoilers. Drama version is great 👍🏻
For some scenes the iqiyi subtitles aren’t very good. For example in episode 10 they have the ML saying that…
I watch on Netflix but ep. 11 subtitles were a bit weird during the go playing scene. They translated words as “we played” so I naturally assumed the guy recognized the girl, but it turned out that he had no idea it was her. But other than that it’s been okay.
the novel readers said he’s not a green flag, he’s a black flag but I think I’m color blind atm
What the heck is a black flag 🏴☠️? I’ve read some netizens called him red flag in the novel but others disagreed because there really was only one incident in the novel.
Apparently in the novel FL was 15 and ML was 20, but they aged them up a bit (18 & 23 probably).
Yes, it’s sometimes better we don’t know the age and assume characters are as old as the actors playing them. I think here we kind of have to find it out because of the events 16 years ago.
