SH is such a weak bootlicker! He is so wishy washy as a character. He sides with people and then immediately changes sides as easy as waves come to shore and retreat back to sea.
His motivations are all over the place - except for his belief that he is the heir apparent and just because he is the chairman's child. Well that is, until it comes out that JW is the chairman's bio daughter, and will have a claim to the throne.
What about SH's love for JW? He watched his father throw the love of his life off the top of a building - and what does he do? Try to blackmail his father - but then runs to the hospital to see her - and - WHATEVER.
I mean he is the most inconsistent character I have seen! He is schizophrenic! He will do two polar opposite things in the same episode. I would say doing things against his character, but he has no established character traits - except that he is a sniveling, weak and entitled bootlicker

Yeah and he was a little hurt initially that she seemed completely indifferent to him when they saw each other at the restaurant. Which on her part indicates complete healing from the trauma she had around their relationship.
But given the final passage from the novel, I think he moved on:

“It’s nothing, I just bumped into someone. Sorry—” She was explaining to the person on the phone when she looked up, about to apologize, but the words died in her throat the moment she recognized him.
Across mountains and rivers, through endless nights—gazing into her eyes now, he knew that when it came to her, he had finally reached the end of the road.That's wonderful, he thought. She came here without any reservations, completely unbothered.
He hadn't left a single scar on her happy life.
It felt as if a hidden corner of his heart had been fully opened. He smiled, looked at her, and said, "I'm sorry."
She paused, seeming both surprised and understanding, before finally smiling back at him. "It's okay," she replied.
I do think Hye-Ra is going to go even more cray cray than she has been. They have made her out to be a selfish…
I just think it is going to go thst way. I just get a sense from the scenes. espeically a couple of shaman grandma telling NA that HR has things that she doesnt. There have been a couple things that have hinted thatbl way. Her hubby almost killed her daughter. It effected her ‐ no matter how she treated her in the past. It is still a mother's daughter. Abandoning and neglecting a child is one thing watching them die after being thrown off a roof by tour husband is a whole other level.
To play devils advocate, in almost every encounter with NXG he has been either aloof or extremely hurtful to her.…

OK - so then it was all her fault? She is the reason his life is unfair? She has been completely unfair to him? She should have waited on him to decide that he wanted her? That is what he said to her> how is that not gaslighting?
I completely understand that people don't like ZX, that's your right, and given his behavior, it's understandable…

He deliberately cut her down (made her sob in tears) He gaslit her in multiple conversations. Then the whole taxi cab scene - after she told him to get lost in the building - He ignores her agency - runs down - grabs her violently - keeps her from leaving and then proceeds to gaslight her again.. That is not behavior of a nice guy - that is the behavior of something else.

They have been showing this weird hate/hate - conflicted/hate - almost regret/hate - full regret/hate relationship dynamic between HR and JW .. But if you are watching the scene patterns - you can clearly see their relationship is evolving - mainly on HR's side at this point. If this continues, we are going to see a HR doing dirty work in the back for JW - because JW wont accept her help. She is already shipping HN and JW in the background now.
I just think that HR has the capacity to not give a F about consequences and steam forward with anything that she wants to do. She would be a much stronger ally than HN could be- HN just does not have enough of a mean streak to get as dirty as these older folks.

Yeah - I really wanted him to go dark and be at least a little interesting. It is like they used him at first to make JW a bit of a villain and a "user" like her mother - but using a green guy. They kept SH green for too long - then they almost took him down the obsessive route - but then dialed that back a bit too.
I am not so sure they know what to do with him at this point. He has been basically sitting as a character that gets things done to him without ever doing anything meaningful at all. He just throws fits, begs, and weakly threatens. He is pretty much a non factor at this point.

Yeah the drama can not allow them to be bio related - because dipiction of incest is prohibited on Korean network TV. So even if they toy with it or tease it. It has to be resolved as not bio related by the end. generally even if they kiss ‐ you can pretty much count on them not being bio related on network programs.
2ML goes to the top of my list of most pitiful, delusional, and trash 2ML in all the dramas I have seen. The attempted rape was bad enough - the fake divorce and trying to keep the fl in a fake marriage that was never ever meant to be real - even after she was already married to ML was totally over the top!
Thank you for all your works! I absolutely loved the novel verions of Shine on me. The drama version is becoming my allntime favorite C-drama. Thank you for for keeping it so close to the original work and even keeping basically the same dialogue in the key scenes. The extra things you added to the drama just made me feel like it was an extension ofmthe novel. Both felt exacrly the same story!!!
