Just finished episodes 5 and 6 and I’m pleased at how the show is going so far. Love the chemistry between the leads. My only complaint would be the editing. It’s clear there are some severe cuts that have occurred. You can tell that there are scenes missing that would connect an earlier and later scene. That does contribute to the fast pace, which I don’t mind, but that does lead to some choppiness. So far the story and acting is good enough that it’s holding together. But I really wish we got more than 35 minutes.

It’s not a FL story but Xueman is our doorway to a lot of these cases. Due the fact that Beiming is a fugitive, Xueman is the connective piece to all the characters and the face of the group.

I heard that negotiations are underway for Wang Xingue and Zhou Ye to lead a new drama together. Will probably not be out till next year.

I hear that one of the male leads had scenes replaced or edited completely out so that effected the time. Idk. I would normally expect at least 45 minutes per episode.

Iqiyi is still showing it listed at 40.

A lot of it has a from antis who are afraid of actors becoming popular and outshining their favorite actors. Pretty sad. And it will also be from those who expected or wanted as romance.

I really liked that the team came together and had a moment of happiness. We even had a couple of mentions that Beiming and Xueman were still married. Time to consummate guys. Although I expect someone to die now. No one is allowed happiness in these dramas.

Does Zhou Ye do her own voice work? I noticed her accent in that interview seemed very thick.

If you believe He Yan passes for a man I would respectfully suggest you get your eyes checked my friend. Lol. The actress, Zhou Ye, is 27 years old and looks very feminine. With that said, this just requires suspension of disbelief. I don’t need to gaslight myself into believing people could confuse her as a man. I can just use my head and know this is a common Cdrama trope that takes nothing away from the story. It’s the Clark Kent with glasses thing. Obviously people should know he looks like Superman. Same here but it takes nothing away from the story.

I think some people raised their expectations way too high. For me I was hooked from the first episode. I’m loving it so far after 4 episodes and the previews are making me want more now. Not sure what people were expecting.

I have watched four episodes and I really enjoy it. I love the intro theme. Love the FL, Zhou Ye. She did a great job in Scent of Time. I really like the ML as well. Already good chemistry between the two. The show looks like it has a good budget. I am very interested to see how long she can stay hidden as a male. As a viewer you have to turn off your brain to the woman pretending to be a man trope in Cdramas. Only a blind man would believe He Yan was a man. Covering your face and putting your hair up is just not enough. You have to set that aside and just enjoy the ride.

To be fair he’s figuring this stuff out on his own while they are working as a team. And he’s only a step late. He really needs to join the team.

I think the chemistry between the ML and FL is fine. I think it has more to do with where the story is going and the lack of a real romance storyline. TBH I see chemistry between Beiming and Deirong and in turn Xueman and Kongyun if they wanted to go there. Hopefully once we get past the poison storyline they will focus on rekindling their relationship. Aren’t they still married?

If you love mystery and suspense you will really like it. The cases are great. They have a great ensemble of actors that really work well together. If you are looking for romance you will be disappointed. They have not gone heavy into the romance at all. Maybe once they resolve a certain issue with the ML, they will get more into the romance. Still early.

The CD ran out of steam by episode 15. The cases became repetitive and the leads were basically infallible Mary Sues.

I hate that trope. It would have been better for the story if they kissed but then she pulled away abruptly, stating she wasn’t ready to go there after three year apart.

Agree. I’m relatively new to Cdramas and ther “fandoms”. And I have notice strong factions similar to what you find in Kpop fandoms. People become antis of actors because they see them as a threat to their favs. Very weird imo. WXY is a talented up and coming actor and have noticed him receive his just praise but some weird hate threads as well.

I love the introduction of Hue Dai Rong. She’s really smart and brings mystery to the show. We can’t 100% rule her out as being with Yesha. I also like her chemistry with Bei Ming and Feng.

Honestly I don’t think you should be allowed to rate a show until it’s completed. Or at least require users to have watched at least half of the show before giving out ratings. It is what it is. I think as more people watch and rate, it will go up. I will give a high rating just to offset. It’s at least an 8. Hopefully it continues to get better. Really enjoying it.
