Yan Tuo is always putting me at the edge of a seat when he's sneaking around the base of the Fiends, I feel like…
I spent a lot of time in episode 11 yelling at him through my TV screen 🫣

I think somewhere along episodes 10 - 11 I got lost and confused 😵‍💫I was very tired due to lack of sleep…
Was there any significance to the ritual Ms Lin and the others dressing in robes and having the sun shine in during the execution? Was there a significance to Lin’s sword with the jewel on the end? Who is the guy and the girl fiends from the club? Do we know how they’re connected to Lin and why? Then the new SM Hunter lady showed up like a badass… do we know why did she showed up at this time? Why wasn’t she around before? Amd the. she just left 😂Was there any significance to them burning the necklaces of the people who left? Wow, okay since typing all of this out I’m seriously thinking that my tiredness had me miss or forget a bunch of stuff. 🥱I also feel like I have more questions and no longer have a clear grasp as to what is going on. There’s also the plot going on with the ML’s sister getting that shot in her arm. 😵‍💫

WOW I need to sleep 🥱💤

In other news, I’m looooving how smart, resourceful and meticulously thorough the ML is. I was so impressed by him the last two episodes (haven’t paid for express). I also really like how the good guys seem to be really great at thinking on their feet and weaseling out of risky situations convincingly. I wish we had more of the FL in episode 11, but I get that she has to recover. The whole “Be careful. Text me when you’re safe” was soooo sweet 🥰❤️

Yeah I totally hear what you’re saying! I’m glad we got to discuss this a bit ☺️

And what I am saying is that your statements also ring of misogyny because you’re implying that a woman is somehow less than because she is physically weak and not 100% independent all the time. Why do the male leads save the women in a lot of dramas? Because most viewers probably watch for the romance, and the show is tagged / advertised as a romance 😂I totally get why some viewers would get fed up if the saving is all one-sided, but if I begin a show for the romance aspect, you can bet that I would get a thorough enjoyment of watching the FL get rescued by the ML and vice versa, more than them getting saved by other people. There are a lot of dramas out there that aren’t advertised as romances, so they may incorporate different kinds of rescuing. I wouldn’t know because non-romantic shows don’t interest me. Vincenzo is the exception, but I digress 😂My point is that male characters should be allowed to be more physically strong and capable without it reflecting poorly on the female character (The Prisoner of Beauty is my favorite drama, even though the FL was not a fighter). A female character should also be able to be more physically capable without being considered more superior to the male lead (Fated Hearts is a fantastic example of this). If we don’t see eye to eye on this, that’s okay 🤷🏼‍♀️Kinda feels like we are just spinning in circles.

EDIT: It looks like your post may have been edited or I didn’t see your comment about there being some women who aren’t as physically capable who are still written wonderfully - I agree. And I also agree that the repetition of one-sided saving gets old, even if it’s all the FL saving the ML, I don’t discriminate. I like the balance, and I think that this show has the balance.

The “damsel in distress” trope is not defined by the coincidental last-minute saving - it’s a broader term that describes a woman needing to be saved by a man in general - say, a helpless princess needing to be rescued after being kidnapped by an evil dragon. Or needing “True Love’s Kiss” to break a spell in her. Coincidental saving can fall under this umbrella, but the term “damsel in distress” always comes with the implication that the woman is somehow weaker or helpless if she needs to be rescued by a man. As per my first post, that term is also inherently misogynistic. Sleeping Beauty or Snow White are not “less than” females because they wanted / needed Prince Charming to save them. And to your comment about “strong woman written superficially” - you’re implying that women are somehow weaker if a man “saves her every time” - that’s also internalized misogyny. Implying that women are somehow “less strong” because being saved by a man enhances the romantic progression is also the same principal. What is inherently wrong with rescuing creating romantic attachments? Why should that “weaken” a female character? Why is a woman weaker if she can’t fight as well, or isn’t as physically powerful as the male lead that particular drama / movie? All of this is just internalized misogyny.

That’s all I’m saying. If a person doesn’t like the storytelling, or like watching women get rescued, then it’s personal preference. If they connect more with a different flavor of a female character, that’s totally their choice. But to shame or perpetuate the idea that a woman who doesn’t fit their preferred flavor of character is somehow less than or weaker as a female isn’t cool. 🤷🏼‍♀️Hope that makes sense. And some people may really enjoy watching their female leads get rescued - that is also okay. 🙂

Ah. I don’t see it the way you do, as the ML was already in the woods with the FL when she fought Locust 🤷🏼‍♀️The second time he tracked her, but yeah, he showed up coincidentally the second before she was gonna die. If that’s all you meant, then there were better ways to phrase it other than comparing her to a “damsel” and suggesting that she was a badass fighter who shouldn’t need saving. It could have been said that you were just feeling annoyed with the pure coincidence of him showing up at JUST the right second in time, rather than comparing her to a “damsel in distress”. I agree to an extent- those coincidental saves that happen at LITERALLY the right second are a bit 🙄🙄🙄in dramas. But it happens everywhere and, you know, it’s for the suspense lol. It would have been more believable if the ML showed up in the middle of the right and they subdued the fiend together, or if the FL somehow defeated the fiend, or escaped, and the ML showed up a bit later to find her bleeding out or something. I hear ya.

Love the leads but I'm not really liking the damsel in distress direction. She's a badass fighter so I hope he…
There isn’t anything wrong about a woman needing rescuing, and getting rescued does not make her a damsel in distress. She freaking jumped off a ledge not two minutes before and stabbed a person through the top of their skull with an injured arm and a wound on her back. She rescued the ML two episodes before, and also kicked his ass in a fight while wearing pajamas. I hate hearing women get shamed because they need rescuing (and they’re only shamed if they’re rescued by a man). All your statement is is internalized misogyny. Why the hell should her getting saved make her less of a “badass fighter”? 🙄Did the ML showing up and saving her undo all of the other great things that she did? 🙄No. Even you suggesting that she’s less of a “badass fighter” because a man saved her is inherently misogynistic because you’re implying that she’s “less than” because of the actions of a man. Let the female lead be the female lead all on her own, and stop using a man to define her.

This concludes my TedTalk.✌🏻

I hope there are a lot of passionate kisses? My wishful thinking though, knowing the age gap there probably won't…
Due to the age gap, there won’t be any kissing or intimacy scenes. It’s so disgusting that they cast a minor with a ML who is over ten years older FOR A ROMANCE DRAMA ABOUT AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE. 🤦🏼‍♀️What the actual f.

I didn’t pay for express, so we are a little behind. I am really loving the lead’s development the latest two episodes! This is a good one, and it’s sweet watching him fall first 🤭

For me, that scene is one of the most sexual scenes I have ever watched in a Chinese drama (both modern and historical).
Oh 💯 absolutely!

Maybe try your hand at a different genre? A fluffy romance? A romcom? 🤷🏼‍♀️At least until you have recovered from FH and are ready to get into that genre again. I dunno it’s hard 🥺After FH I shifted to a modern Cdrama romance - haven’t watched a modern show prior to that in like six months lol

What I typically do after finishing a show that gave me a serious hangover is putting on a type of show that’s completely different from the one I just finished. That way you don’t mess up viewing experiences playing the comparison game. Let yourself come down off of the high of FH before trying to watch a similar show. Just my two cents 😊

The first 3 episodes are rough because they torture and try to kill each other (as I said - enemies to lovers lol), but after that they are a fantastic and loving power couple. I hope you like it! The ML is one of my top faves of all time.
