i dont think women like Qingzi/Xihe care about looks. She just dont want to be binded by the rule and do whatever she wants to protect the realm. Prince Xin never care about what she think but Hua Yong clearly understand what she wants and try his best to protect her while she do what she has to do for the realm

in my opinion, he never think of what his wife wants and just do whatever he think his wife wants (like become an emperor so she could be the most respected woman in the realm or smth but thats not what she wants, she wants to protect her familly), thats why Qingzi never warmed up to him. He could just comunicate with her with what she wants, what should he do for her etc and he can at least try to do it, but he's blinded by ambition to become and emperor i guess
