I finished watching this entire show.
The female lead (FL) gave a really good performance. All the women actors did a really good job. Some of the male actors also did well. The male lead (ML), however, was a terrible actor. So terrible we skipped almost all of his scenes because we couldn’t stomach watching him act so terribly. His facial expressions didn’t make sense, the delivery of lines didn’t make sense, during tense/serious scenes he acted as if he was…. pretending, it was tough to watch. He over performed in scenes and was overdramatic.
I understand being a young actor starting out in a career, I don’t understand why they chose him for this role. It made the show really bad and his acting made it hard to watch the show because we got secondhand embarrassment from watching him act terribly.

Also, the second ML - the guy who was number one at the host bar also did a terrible acting job. I mean the scene where he claims the FL’s bff wanted to sleep with him, so he “threw” her on the couch and tried to pin her down… wtf was that???? So embarrassing! Even when he acted his scenes in the host bar they were cringe. The background actor guys in the host bar were cringe. It was all cringe!

I would say maybe it’s a cultural thing the way they were acting, maybe affection in tv doesn’t happen often, but I can’t just blame culture because we’ve (my sister and I) watched other Japanese dramas and enjoyed them with/without romance! Plus, I really enjoyed the dad’s performance! I really enjoyed the male fiancé‘s performance, I really liked the Assistant teacher guys performance. So it’s not culture, it’s just bad acting and terrible actor choices on the directors part.

The ML, the second ML host, and the friend of the ML host were too much and too overdramatized, and it became annoying. At one point, my sister who was watching the show with me said “should this have been an anime, they’re acting very animated and ridiculous”.

I wish they had chosen a different ML. Heck the FL even had better connection with the bar OWNER than the ML.
Maybe the Fl and ML just couldnt find that artistic connection because the couple in the show didn’t even make sense either… You look at them and you know they won’t last. She made more sense with the fiancé than with the ML. They could’ve had her former relationship with the owner of the host bar and it would’ve made more sense.The ML was incredibly immature and she would’ve been the one taking care of him if they ended up together. Like his mom. Spoiler they end up together and it makes no sense when they do either… I cannot get past his terrible acting. I’m just glad he wasnt a high schooler.. I’m sick of seeing that in the shows.
The FL was very good! Even her scenes with the fiancé, with the dad, with the Assistant teacher, they were all good scenes, so it was not her, and it was not the writing, and it was not the script.
