Let’s address the blood-soaked elephant in the room. I’ve never seen a show weaponize hemoptysis with such…
Your review had me floored. Too damn funny. I only came here after reading your comment on Decoy Bride, not that i planned to watch this. At the risk of becoming a fellow drama martyr, i will heed your wise counsel and steer clear of this disaster of a drama. Thank you for taking one for the team, we will not fail your efforts.
You me at "Romance?? Action?? Logic?? This Drama Said No Thanks.." 😆 🤣 . I think your review was more interesting than the drama. I was tempted to watch it cuz of SWL but was deterred by Angela bby. Then your review was the last nail on the coffin so i will save myself from high blood pressure. Speaking of Angela, does she like such roles where she leads the ML on for ages and does nothing in return? I only have ever watched 1 of her dramas, the General and I, and seems to me like that's her MO
One thing I've come to term during my long term c-novel reading is that a novel at the scale of 'Sheng Shi Di…
I guess i could change my perspective then the drama would be easily digestible. To be honest, if this was 6-7 years ago, I'd have no qualms enjoying the show. It's just that I've been spoilt ever since i discovered some of these dramas were based on novels, starting with Joy of Life. So off i left dramaland and immersed myself in books, only to emerge this year and started watching dramas again. I need to take a deep breath and let go. Luckily I'm broad-minded so after a few months of adjustment, i should be able to watch this happily
Among the more recent ones, I think there is a chance you would enjoy "Flourished Peony"; I know I did,…
Thanks for the recommendations. I'm currently experiencing a drama slump, having watched POJ way too many times than is necessary. Lol. Of course I've watched Empresses in the palace, but i won't rewatch it mainly cuz that emperor really couldn’t convince me that his bevy of beauties were pining over him(facecard issues 😄). Wallace Huo makes sense, but Chen Jian Bin..... Sorry, i just like watching handsome men tihihihi. I've been pushing ignoring Are you the one, saving it for laaaater. I don't know why. But it's my back up drama. Will check out Flourished Peony ASAP. Thanks! I trust you since you recommended Lü Song Li and i read that novel for 3 days straight without stopping
I'm at episode 8 and struggling to continue. Having read the novel, I'm not reconciled with this version of events. First, they should categorically state that this drama is loosely based on the original novel. Key word being 'LOOSELY'. Because to me, the script writer/director/producer just went to town adapting this novel to the drama. They at least kept the names of the characters but their true nature have been changed and twisted to cater for.....honestly, i don't know. They must have their own reasons for doing so. FL, in the novel, is one of the best written one I've ever come across. Smart, calm, resourceful, and capable. Her abilities are justified because of her background(she's a transmigrator). Not one of those who magically becomes OP as soon as they cross over and nothing about their past life explains their newfound capabilities or everything awesome about them is just plot armour. In the drama, so far, she has an imaginary friend, a monkey phobia and way too bubbly for this role. I feel like she's been Bailu-ed so much. Yes, i made up the word. She seems to have been written to fit into Bailu's character, rather than Bailu getting into Yeli's. Blame me for having read the novel and having high expectations. I won't delve into the other characters now (ML, Li wang, Ye Ying, Ye family, ML's bf, Xu family...who have been completely sidelined so far, etc),as that would make this too long because every single one of them was changed and barely resemble their novel characters. So that's why I'm having a tough time getting through this. Maybe I'll continue or may not. It's not the cast's fault, just the script changes are too jarring thereby erasing the magic of original novel. Perhaps, I'd say, watch the drama and then read the novel so as to avoid heartache. As for me and my broken heart, I'll mark this as a spoiler so as not to interupt your enjoyment of the show.
Tbh, this is my all time favorite cdrama. It gives me a very serene and nice feeling, so much so I’ve watched it multiple times. I don’t have a plethora of words or witty remarks (which i wish i had) to describe how much i loved this drama, but i liked everything about this drama. It was also in this drama that i fell in love with Minglan's Di mu and was sooo happy to see her in pursuit of jade. Every actor/actress did their part well even if it was a cameo e.g. that doctor who was practically abducted by the ML in the beginning to go save Minglan's mom. Not that the drama was perfect, but overall, it delivered. Long as it may be, i enjoyed the storytelling. I'm yet to find a similar production these days and i guess that's why i tend to come back to it, just to heal my heart from all these idol dramas and whatnots being pushed on us nowadays. I really miss the days when costume cdramas were carefully crafted and you could see the labor of love put into the work. Similar productions i liked were: Rise of the phoenixes, Ruyi's royal love, nirvana in fire 1, story of Yanxi palace, Ming Dynasty(this is a special mention because i never got to finish it as the translation fumbled halfway through and i haven't been able to find decent eng subs since then). If someone has other recommendations, please share ( no rebel princess/love like the galaxy please)
I read the novel a few years back and i remember those characters very well. I look forward to seeing Bailu's potrayal of Ye Li. I hope the screenwriters don’t botch this up because Ye Li is one of the best FL I've ever come across. That’s why i could remember her story after so many years, it was that impressive. Basically, the author already provided a splendid story, so drama team, we await your presentation.
Alright, I'd like to publicly announce that you Sir....have been approved!
Also i totally agree with everything you said about Minglan, my sentiments exactly 😉
Sorry, i just like watching handsome men tihihihi.
