I posted this as a reply more than 5 days ago, and I'll now put this as a standlone comment. For this 2026 drama…
i have this awful trait of thinking i replied but i actually only replied in my head and not out on the keyboard and now it's hard to type it out. but to think he spent 7 years rewriting and polishing is insane. im worried about archives potential next season at this rate. but this means we can rest easy about mystic nines ending and not be left frustrated.
and looks like spending their massive budgets on creating actual 1:1 accurate sets is their style. it certainly enables great immersion and creates atmospheric realism, something many shows lately lack relying on cgi and green screens. i like that he has been expanding on the novel lore through the drama since some were saying the novel for the mystic nines is small and not that detailed. makes it feel like he's connecting all the webs for the eventual clean ending for his main series tbh.
i watched the first episode and thought it was nice. old things have their own charm. i like er ye, what a different protagonist. ba ye seems to not have aged at all.
the writing is fine, first few episodes felt boring to some since they were stuck underground. although this drama is perfectly fine as a standalone, some might find things a bit hard to follow or adjust to while lacking context about the dmbj universe. but most people here watched at least one or more of the other adaptations, be it mystic nine 2016, ulltimate note or archives: the nanyang mystery, so they have some context and are just enjoying it. mdl rates non romance dramas low for no reason so don't bother relying on it.

same tbh, their logic makes no sense. they have no morals nor dignity and think they are being all that while just being a lapdog for some influential men. what legacy lol. good riddance.
I think it will be better to watch this as standalone. I think people that watch previous series ship ba ye and…
60 aint even that old lmao being crazy mustve worked out for him ohh okay ty for telling, seems the 7th family receives the head position instead of inheriting, so xiang gu is the 2nd
