I don't think I have ever seen such a high ratio of recycled flashback to new material. If they had actually written any plot or any characters (besides the 4th prince he was delightful) maybe they wouldn't have needed to constantly re-use their footage to fill the run time. Pity, because this had a few of my favorite tropes...

Not a fan of dramatic (non-funny) modern verticals and often find Yang Ze's acting in them too "cool" in a way that comes off mostly flat and bored (imo ymmv). BUT he felt way more emotive and interesting to watch in this one. FL was enjoyable too.

Wow, a very strong screenwriter! I was surprised at how many of her shows I have watched without knowing. Probably 😅 has to do with the fact that Yang Ze had been in 4 (!) of her projects - I wish they would team up again 🙏🙏

This was a surprisingly cute and feel-good watch. Everyone is a touch (or more than a touch 😅) naive at times which ups the adorableness levels significantly. All the secondary characters really grew on me a lot in the second half (the mom lol), but my favorites were the pair of academy students 🤣🤣. The FL and ML make a well-balanced pairing - one is painfully earnest and straight forward while the other is always manipulating and holding things back, but both are sweethearts. 🛁👘🐱🤣

If you enjoy The Descendents or Ella Enchanted, you might like this one. To me, it was really giving lightweight fantasy intended for a young teenage audience.

When the ML asked the Dr why he was constantly filled with lust towards this woman, was she taking something? And the Dr's response was - No, there has just always been something wrong with your body and your mind 🤣🤣.

This one was low-key fascinating and I enjoyed it. I want to study the main pairing like weird bugs. I feel bad for the former fiancé though - he didn't really do anything wrong (on purpose anyway). I do wish the lady guard had had an ounce of personality which would have made a few scenes feel more lively.

He was absolutely my favorite character in GotD 😆 so funny. But he is great in the antagonist roles too. Wonderful character actor

I just learned that Yue Yang is in this and NOW I am adding it to my watch list. He is pretty high up the character list too🤞he has some decent screen time

I didn't even recognize him without some kind of facial hair 😂. I cheer whenever he pops up in a drama. So much fun to watch! Leads who? HE was my favorite character in Guardians of the Dafeng.

The current rating of 6.9 seems overly harsh. The dynamic between the two leads was great! She comes to the capital cynically scheming to catch a stable, but not too important, husband. She wants absolutely nothing to do with that cold, high-ranking prince who keeps noticing and thwarting all her love plots against his friends. He, on the other hand, goes from feeling scorn towards her, to being kinda hurt she doesn't want to chase after him too. She was fishing for a husband and accidentally hooked the one man in town she didn't want! The "hooked fish" pursues and the "fisherman" flees.

This one is hella cute and a blast to watch! Lol'd through out. Definitely ranks in the top 5 of all Yang Ze vertical dramas. Give it a try (and thx OP for sharing! ❤️)

I am gonna watch this show just for him. Even if he is only on screen 5 minutes

I mourn this shift in c-ent towards verticals! The 3 micros/verticals on his MDL list are all very good but he has so many others out in 2026 and very few are any good so far. Watching one of his longer minis rn and you can clearly see the difference in quality, including his acting. The rushed production schedules for these vertical dramas means even talented actors can't do much more than throw on a costume and say their lines.

The wine drinking scene in ep 4 is great! Hilariously written and I adore the acting choices by them both.
