NoIt doesn't
I have to admit, The Potato Lab had a much better story, and the chemistry between the leads was better too. It’s a pity because Ahn Hyo-seop usually stars in more interesting dramas, but oh well… we’ll see.

They need to abolish the 12 ep plan or plan better so writers aren't suffocated. Most dramas mess up because they've…
True, but I also think the reasons behind the backlash matter. A lot of dramas lose momentum or have inconsistencies at some point, and people usually just complain about the writing. But the massive hate toward When the Phone Rings wasn’t mainly because of the screenplay itself — it really escalated because of the mistranslation issue. And with Mr. Queen and now ā€œPerfect Crown,ā€ the controversy seems more connected to historical inaccuracies than to pacing or the 12-episode structure alone.
So I feel like sometimes it’s not even the rushed storytelling that causes the biggest backlash, but one specific controversy that snowballs online and completely changes the public reaction to the drama.

Why does every super hyped MBC drama end up getting backlash around episode 12 😭 I’m halfway through the finale, and I only found out about the historical inaccuracy controversy because I saw the backlash all over social media. It reminds me of what happened with When the Phone Rings, where a mistranslation basically fueled massive hate online. At this point the online reaction cycle feels almost predictable for big K-dramas.

Title Perfect Crown Spoiler
bruh so much to just abolish monarchy I mean not every story that includes crown should end with abolishmentit's…
I’d also like to see them stay as a royal couple, but at the same time, it makes complete sense why he wants to abolish the monarchy.

The crown has been a heavy burden for every member of his family. He grew up feeling discriminated against compared to his brother, his mother died tragically (and it probably wasn’t even an accident), and his brother suffered too after desperately wanting to step down because he couldn’t handle being king anymore.

Even his nephew was raised as ā€œthe kingā€ after losing his father at such a young age. He lost so many valuable and carefree childhood experiences, and honestly, that’s really painful to watch.
On top of that, there were already two assassination attempts against him, and during the first one, his wife was also put in danger. At this point, the crown feels like a vicious cycle where everyone involved only ends up suffering or living in danger.
Freedom is more valuable than power — at least that’s how I see it. That’s why I actually liked that he asked for the abolition of the monarchy. In the end, it’s for the sake of his family, his nephew, and the next generations.
But to be honest I don t think it’s that easy and we ll see how he handles it tomorrow
