Maybe the BEST Korean drama I have ever seen (quite the feat). Daring, exposing, well written and executed without any apologies. Every episode, calculating move, even how it ends is meaningful. It's best not to binge, but to digest and think about this one or else you might miss out on complexities and nuances that make this. It's like all classics, the deeper you dive in, the more you appreciate it's value.
Watch it, it's so impressive! Caution: Scandalous and spicy. Way better than most het or historic Thai shows. If this show doesn't hold 8.5-9.0 ratings on MDL, then it's bs.
I liked it but it can get emotional. It's def a show to think about on a deeper level and not to just react or jeer/cheer. Def underrated. Here's why- every character is complicated, confused, and just trying to figure out what to do- and not knowing what to do, just drifting along in a messy life. Lessons learned are ah ha moments where lives turn around into something satisfying the audience. And when lessons are learned, it is usually because it gets to the point the house is burning down and you can't ignore it. Because every little thing is convoluted, it's a drama. Characters have traumas, some are immature although they try hard not to be, and they make stupid mistakes, often repeatedly- for me, that's what makes it realistic. If you need an ending that feels complete and resolved, this isn't for you. But again, for me, that makes it more realistic. I liked it but I def didn't feel all warm and fuzzy after it ended. Nor was I supposed to. If any of this feels like a turn off, check out a different series.
Absolutely do not trust the ratings on this phenom. I've seen ratings off the rails quite a bit, especially with anything mature and gritty, but this is probably the biggest load of ratings bs I've seen. Mindblowing.
On episode 10 and it is sooo slow and drawn out since episode 3. It took several episodes for Wallace Chung to actually become a main character. I like him as an actor but for him to get top billing and then have a handful of lines stretched out over episodes...it feels like a joke. I know billing is a money/power decision but I couldn't resist commenting. I wanted to like this show and did like the first 2 episodes but since then I am waiting and waiting for something a little more....well, a little more.
So far looks like a winner. Cast appears to be great. Interesting Thai/Chinese combo. Cinematography etc good too! Like the pacing. I've seen too many unnecessarily slow as molasses series lately. I hope it continues this way and avoids the GMMTV latter half curse.
It's sooooooooo hot I think we might (I'm trying to be hopeful)
I wrote abt this on a prev post but in short- Imo, if they can make Bloody Romance into a series, they can definitely make this into series. As for how it turns out? Dunno. But it is possible.
I saw the teaser for this drama, so I'm wondering how in the world did it pass censorship? I'm not complaining,…
If they can make Bloody Romance into a series, they can definitely make this into series. If it is a BR situation- people that read know what is going on bts and can still enjoy the show (unless screenwriter off the rails) while people that don't read it can enjoy it in a different way (R themes vs smut). Regardless of the botchy ending, the idea of taking something on that level and making it pass as a censored story- BR blew my mind and made me realize some censored screenwriters are true magicians.
I genuinely like Jeff. I love that he is multifaceted and I hope to see him in diverse roles in diverse works both on screen and musically. So, I am really curious if this role has a substantive straight romance in it. I would love to see him land that type of role and nail it. Just incase a shipper or supaBL fan gets offended by my opinion, I'm down with BLs. Actually, I love The Paradise of Thorns and think he was phenom for his role and part in it. However, I am not down with artists becoming commodities and typecast.
Sung Hoon is a very good, diverse actor and deserves to be valued and treated well. The man delivers his roles. When he plays a scum, my stomach turns. When a hero, it's all warm and fuzzy. When spineless, it's infuriating. And he's delivered swoonworthy chemistry. So, I'd like to condemn his company who it appears threw him under the bus with HGWtRB. HGWtRB is essentially 2 undeveloped, circular scenes and from what I see vert drama actors are stuck in a small box. I hope this is a glitch and his company gets their act together and works for him instead of against him.
Something smells fishy. I'm a Sung Hoon fan and want to say he was thrown under the bus? It's essentially 2 undeveloped, circular scenes. Just dumbfounded. Maybe actors are testing the waters in attempt to see if the vert drama platforms can help them escape the industry "machine." But even then....hopefully they made some Soju money and they can drink it off. I know I need some now.
Between the novel and the trailer... if only. Maybe it's time to start praying to the drama gods. Stars please align for this one. Iqiyi, I've been patient. I get it- you have to furnish to your mass audiences. Now, it's time for something more mature and of quality so release this already!
I feel bad for Fan Zhi Xin. Truly. I know he wanted to explore playing a complex "bad guy" but the FL and script is a joke. Hopefully he can get another gig like Crazy Love Game (MDL has it as Game of True Love \••/`), the Chinese remake of Game Sanaeha. He was able to own it and shine in CLG with FL with chemistry who can do a likeable "drama queen" role.
After watching VoS...so many thoughts came to mind...did the director ran out of idea that he took so many things…
I'll be the jerk and say it...he's been sued multiple times and known for plagiarizing others (among other things). Initially, I was surprised he never lost his job, until I realized who he works for. That being said, IMO (1) he wouldn't think twice of copying his own teams' previous work if that is the case and (2) there is every chance that he is not as "knowledgable" of his own work as fans (who are invested and very detail oriented). This is my take from all that I gathered over the years. Info keeps getting deleted and white washed esp after fall boycotts but I'm sure netizens can still find sources on what I touched upon if they are interested.
Question: the ost has some songs that say film adaptation and some say tv series. Is there a movie? The songs are intentionally labeled as such in Mandarin.
