The manga has two volume , each with a different name, i will send you the name and the link of both volumes.Volume…
Yes. The movie do follows what happens closely in the manga, but only volume 1. The movie only adapted volume 1 of the manga and the manga has vol 2 too, that continue to where the movie ends. So if you not enjoy reading mangas usually, you're right, is best to not read it.
I just saw this information made by Sana Joanne in youtube who usually post a lot of recently news about some of her favorite actors and dramas, and today she made a post about WInner is King. I don`t know anything else and i don`t know if the source is credible. All credit goes to Sana Joanne channel in youtube His channel has some really wonderful news and photos of the actors from Winner is King and Immortality also. https://www.youtube.com/c/SanaJoanne539/community
If winner is king already passed the second review of the censorship there is a huge chance that it will air before immortality. The person explained that the director of the winner is king trying his best to push the drama forward because of this reason and the reason is that due to the 100 th celebration of the founding Chinese Communist Party. No historical costume drama will air starting from June. If they want to air it, they have to air it in May or in November. The costume dramas which air in the last half are not considered as successful but in this case. Immortality is a fantasy drama and not about the history but winner is king clearly has parts included about the history and the overall story is about a king. It's kinda offensive to this communism. So people still expect that winner is king will air first and immortality will air second because both of them are from the same company. I hope ten cent will handle this well. Therefore these are only rumors circulating around media. No one knows what will come first for sure.
Edit- but even if this air first, don't worry. You will like the plot very much. As a person who read the novel I can say that it's one of the best stories out there and the couple is so sweet. There is nothing similar to immortality cp though. These two couples are the opposite of each other. So we can enjoy both immortality and winner is king. Plus you will like a certain someone so much after watching. That character is hilarious.
The acting in Episode 2 is fine, but the living room GSD/SY scene shows clear non-consent, IMO. Upon re-watching,…
I think why people are so bothered by the coach scene and me too, is because we don`t think is necessary for Gao Shi De to be so aggresive in forcing Shu Yi to listen to him and change his mind so he will want to sleep with him. Initiating an intimate scene forcefully like this, even if he initially just wanted to make him listen, then trying to imobilize someone and not let him free himself from his hold and even covering his mounth , not matter the reason, not matter if the person forced decided to get along with him and stop struggling, visually for viewers is seems not right, it make you feel uncomfortable. I`m not saying everyone will feel like this, but this scene can make viewers very easily don`t care for Gao Shi De anymore and don`t want to continue watching the drama or change the overall impression the drama will let on people . If this was a movie, i could be able to continue watching, if Gao Shi De would have given a logical reason of why he acted like this or if i liked how they concluded this scene, as movies are shorter and manage to tie things more artistic and quickly. But this is a drama, viewers still has more eps to watch. In my opinion even Tharn Type season 1 handled the problematic scenes better . As you said in the novel we get to read the toughts of Shu Yi and in the drama we can spot when he respond to Gao Shi De. i can see the moments he struggle to not respond to Gao Shi De, as he is still angry with him, and i can see at the end he starts responding to Gao Shi De, but you have to understand that by the time that part is showed it don`t matter anymore, the impact was made, i already changed my good impression about Gao Shi De. The problem i have with that scene, is not Shu Yi resisting at the beginning but how forceful and aggessive Gao Shi De is, he is acting like some sexually harrasers i saw in other dramas, is hard to like him as before. Not matter what the interpretation the production team has and wanted to show to viewers by filming this scene, they should have considered how it could be interpreted by the majority of the fans. How the aftermath of scenes like this are handled are also really important. When scenes like this happens between the characters, for viewers to accept and understand the intention in having the characters have to film that scene, they should at least discuss about it, at least shown one of them beng angry, punch him, slap him so the other understand what he did is not right and properly discuss that he shouldn`t never do that again. I don`t have anything against problematic intimate scenes, i am an adult, i really enjoy dramas similarly with this, but that writing make things worse and i really think it wasn`t necessary. I am one of the early watchers of bl dramas and movies, from the period from when BL MOVIES made by Japan like Takumi kun series started to get popular and have appeal to international viewers. I have watched almost all bl dramas and movies made and a lot of them, had scenes like this, especialy since in the past were much frequent, and i do find this scene was filmed careless and without a clear direction and vision, as if they left the actor just do what he wanted. It make me hate Gao Shi De, just because of that scene, it`s a big deal, and it shown how poorly filmed this couch scene is.
No, you`re right, i think people who watched enough bl dramas and movies with consent issues like this will be able to understand the majority of viewers who wrote comments similarly with yours. I will also send to you the comment i also send to enigmatic_zephy, as i did read some otehr comments to him and i think he/she is a resonable person. Okay, I lately thought about it. SamYu and the rest of the cast are sweethearts. I want to see more of them. But…
Yes. You`re right. I was so excited about season 2, as i really liked how the characters were writed and portrayed in the first season, but the writing starting from the special episode and continuing with season 2 is just full of plot holes and the development is not realistic. I mean i didn`t expect it to be as realistic as in real life, but at least to make sense. The main characters were separated for years, a lot of years, because of a half hearted reason like this, that is such a unbelievable misunderstanding, and then they re tried to sell people that they still want to make this work, in the rest of at most 4 eps. They should at least have them have some awkwardness and unfamiliriaty from not seeing each other for years and take it easy and have some honest talks, a lot and not just a simple talk like this. And they had Guo Shi De act forcefully towards Shu Yi because the other didn`t wanted to listen to him and then get forgiven so easily . They should at least talk about it. How the aftermath of scenes like this are handled is really important. When scenes like this happens between the characters, for viewers to accept and understand the intention in having the characters have to film that scene, they should at least discuss about it, at least shown one of them beng angry, punch him, slap him so the other understand what he did is not right and properly discuss that he shouldn`t never do that again. I don`t have anything against problematic intimate scenes, i am an adult, i really enjoy dramas similarly with this, but that writing make things worse. If i was Shu Yi, if someone did that to me, i wouldn`t forgive him that easily. He would have to really give me some serious logical reasons and i will have him prove to me that he is genuinely sorry for a long time, and maybe even cut him out of my life if i can`t manage to trust him again. They can make how many seasons they want, i don`t care anymore, even for the characters i wouldn`t watch. I am curently watching History 4: Close to you, who also has a mature story with the secondary couple having consent issues, but at least for both for the lead couple and the secondary couple the writing is consistent. I was surprised how good this drama can be, even if he overall plot is more of a relaxing and comedic watch and has all the unrealistic cliches done until now, but because the characters are writed in a way when they know when to be funny and when and how to handle serious matters, is a very enjoyable watch. Good writing and not allowing too many misunderstandings between the couples is really important in bl dramas and movies and influence a lot the watching experience.
Scroll down a bit and read the previous comments made. Everything other people said there is true. Japanese movies takes a while until are available to watch for international viewers, about six months at most, sometime less, sometime more. Is hard to predict. In my case i always check MDL pages of the movies, as news circule fast here.
You mean the actor who is playing the ML from the novel is the one married. I was just commenting since for people…
I didn' t mean to put a fedge between people who are thinking like me and people who needs the actors/actresses to be unmarried/single for their characters to be able to be shiped, but just that i wish that people would think more from the perspective of the actors/actresees. They are getting looked down and expected the characters they portray to not be able to be shiped from the start just because they are dating someone/married or divorced, when we haven`t seen their performance yet. If the actors/actresses don`t put the necessary effort for their characters to have chemistry, tension, the connection that should be there, then they should be criticized, but we don`t know that yet. Maybe is a issue with chinese culture and related to chinese actors/actresses. Because when i watch korean and japanese dramas and movies, i didn`t see this happen. In Japan especially, but Korea as well, they are young , but especially in late 20 or `30s or even older actors/ actresses who is known to be dating, married or divorced, who still get cast in romance dramas/movies and people don`t complain about this aspect. Even in the leads for BG chinese dramas and movies i rarely see comments like this. For exemple Yang Mi who is divorced, Tiffani Tang and his husband, Zanilia Zhao and his husband, edit: ex-husband, as i saw they just announced they`re getting divorced, Wallace Chung, and many others- i didn`t see people who complain that they can`t ship them with their costar, or at least a lot of fans complaining about it. Maybe if more and more actors/actresses date more openly, or people who cast them don`t use this criteria, things will change. I read an interview where i think a director of producer from the drama WOH, said that for her the most important thing when the cast is chosen is for them to be single , not married or divorced, so from the start this eliminates a chance for others actors to have a chance for the role just because of this. This can be considered discriminatory and can put a lot of pressure on actors/actresses to be single or avoid to be caught, and if their scandal are not handled well to ruin their careers, is just messed up and something that should not be promoted.
In the end she will chose Yuwen Yue, but really the drama has a tragic incompleted end for people who didn't read…
Is implied that he died. In the novel happened this as well. She tought he was dead for a long period of time. It passed about one year until she find out she's alive.
Is she gonna love Yuwen Yue Or Yan Xun? Because i love yuwen more and if she choose Yan Xun, gonna drop it for…
In the end she will chose Yuwen Yue, but really the drama has a tragic incompleted end for people who didn't read the novel, and don't know what will happen next. They finished the drama at the worst point , as it has some allegations of plagiarism of the novel the drama was adapted from and it ends abruptly, without a closure. The sad part is that they will probably never make a second season because of the controversy around the plagiarism.
The drama is based on a bl novel. But since it is China, I assume they will go with the friendship route or bromance…
Very well said. This person has a repetitive need to write about this, and you can`t make him understand this not matter how much you try to convince him, that`s why i usually try to don`t respond to her posts. I don`t know if you go to Word of honor page regularly, but this person regularly write this kind of thoughts there, and people always respond to his posts, but nothing changes lol, she still continue doing this. At some point someone irritated her so much she revealed her homophobic toughts, got her account deleted and then she comeback to the same page with another account. The sad thing is, she seems to have taken a liking to want to watch all the upcoming danmei adaptations that will be released, as of course she isn`t satisfied with watching the purely bromance dramas. I think she probably has internalized homophobia or has some issues. Anyway, i just wanted to warn you about this individual.
You mean the actor who is playing the ML from the novel is the one married. I was just commenting since for people…
Well, i guess i don`t mind actors/actresses having known girlfriends/boyfriends or spouses as i don`t like to shipe the actors beyond their characters. People like me won`t mind if they are single of not. I find the shiping culture of actors/actresses useless and a huge waste of time, as you remain with nothing after the promotion period is done, as if one is not careful, he/she can get very delusioned of what should think as real and what not. This being said, i do understand they are people who needs the two actors to have all the conditions to be able to be shiped in real life, and their concern that the drama might not get as popular as it could be because of this are valid, as i read about many people who think like this, so their concerns are valid. The popularity of the drama and actors coud be hindered, but that don`t mean that actors who has girlfriends and are married shouldn`t be cast in danmei productions or romance dramas in general, as this thinking is selfish and toxic, and can limit the posibility of those actors in doing their job, that is acting
Is not netflix that censored the donghua , is China that censored it . Netflix didn't even produced the donghua, bilibili is the production company, netflix just bought the the rights to air the donghua on the platform, nothing more, they can't change anything than what they are provided with. I don't think netflix even produces any kind of animation, a lot of dramas and movies on netflix are the result of netflix buying the right to distribute them in their platform. Only some are really produced by netflix/and are netflix original. China use censorship not only for dramas, but for donghuas too. They are bit more lenient with censorship for donghuas, but no by much, the difference is not big compared with dramas. China don't film two versions, one used in China and the other for release in international platforms. And it don't matter what international platform buy the rights, the donghua aired to those platforms has to be the same version as the one that aired in China, like for exemple on the websites of the productions companies, that frequently make donghuas, like tencent or bilibili. Is not a new thing, for years things are working like this, nothing changed. I tought that is useful information for you and others to know how it will be for future releases of the donghuas too.
Zhang Xingchen's first look as Fei Du. My lord he's so gorgeous https://twitter.com/dramapotatoe/status/1382967401654865920?s=19
Thank you for sharing. OMG, i read the novel and i second that, i totally see him as being Fei Du. That's a very good styling and tought put in making Fei Du as a character that come to life from the pages of the book. I'm so glad the drama managed to show Fei Du's long hair, this is really the perfect length, since for most actors if it were more long than this, it can look sloopy. And the height and weight is good too, as Fei Du should be tall and lean. The glasses to, Omg i'm so happy. Did Zhang Xingchen has such a low weight originally, or he went on a diet for the role, i'm impressed by his efforts if he had to lose weight too. I was having doubts how the actor will be able to show the young look too, but i can see now that for him, losing weight, good styling and make up, works for him.
You mean the actor who is playing the ML from the novel is the one married. I was just commenting since for people who didn't read the novel, can think by reading your comment that you mean Luo Wenzhou, the character from the novel. I don't have this problem, as celebrities are people too, who have to get on with their life, and get married and live happily. I mean, people should still be able to ship the characters they portray in their drama/movies if they are good actors and manage to do a good job in getting in their characters. Actors in general can still be able to make the characters they portray have chemistry and make the viewers believe that they can be shiped, even if the actors/actresses are married or not.
Nop. All the comments saying the donghua it can be now watched on netflix, they are refering to the first season. Season 2 of the donghua is in production, i will probably be released if not in the last quarter of this year, then next year. But, no date of release yet, it was just me speculating.
The scriptwriter has mentioned that she does not like to add any unnecessary love interests if they are not in…
When i wrote in the previous comment, i only taken in consideration how true to the original story in the novel the drama managed to stay, as to argue that this is not an authentic or faithful to the original source as people are making out to be, by stating all the main reasons the drama deviated and made things different from the novel.
Faraway wanderers has a really unique, original story, as some other bl novels out there that are lucky to get a drama or donghua adaptation and i wish people who don`t enjoy reading bl novels, or didn`t read the novel, to understand the point of view of people who was charmed and appreciated the original content in the novel . The fans of the bl novels that these dramas are adapted from know what they are talking about and because of this wouldn`t ever consider WOH a very faithful adaptation and in any case the best authentic adaptation ever made until now. I don`t need to compare WOH to other danmei dramas for me to see that. Untamed and other danmei dramas mentioned until until now were just exemples. People can have different views, but should at least be realistic about them or be approved by people who know what they are talking about and has enough experience in watching drama and reading novels.
When people say that a drama is a very authentic or faithful adaptation of a novel, all that it should be taken in consideration when someone makes this kind of affirmation is how closer to the novel the drama managed to adapt the characterizations of the main characters, the overall events, how many things were changed, how is the ending and the overall impression the drama make to the viewers compared with the novel. Has the drama managed to show the essence of the story? On can argue, but i think this drama only managed to present about 40% of the core or essence of the novel in general. And WOH is the least faithful adaptation from the novel compared to others danmei adaptations, and i don`t refer only about dramas like Untamed, Guardian ( Guardian can be considered as a similarly adaptation to WOH, as being in equal ground, because of the big changes the drama suffered in the last eps), S.C.I Mystery, but also donghuas like MDZS, Thousand autumns, Heaven Official Blessings, Legend of exorcism. Giving exemples of donghuas is not that relevant as is probably more easily to make than a drama, but considering they aren`t many danmei dramas made until know, and how well these donghuas managed to adapt the original content from the novels they were based of can`t be denied, and are good exemples.
The reasons why a drama managed to adapt the content of a novel more faithfull or less faithfull shouldn`t matter when an affirmation of this is made , but the end product is the only thing that should matter. Also he scriptwriter having the freedom to write the script don`t always bring a good result, and it can be hard to decide when to stick to what is in the novel, and where to add necessary content, if the scriptwriter try to make big changes. And sometimes because of too much freedom, the completed script can be so different from the novel, that might as well be original script writed by the scriptwriter, and not an adaptation from a novel. When things like this happens, don`t the author of the novel will feel wronged and regret selling the book to be adapted? Having some freedom to adapt the story is okay, but it should also has it`s limitations. An author having a small fandom don`t mean the fans of the novel wouldn`t be disappointed and less hurt that the drama deviated from the novel more than they should. Again, what about the authors of the novels ? The authors would probably be more happy when the dramas that adapt their novels try to stick to the way they writed the characters and the content as close as they can. Priest is much more silent than other authors when she sees her novels not being adapted as well as they should. When Guardian has ended, and she saw that her fans were very sad about how the drama ended, she writed a new extra chapter of the novel, as consolation for her fans, she cares for the fans of her novels and she knows what it happens too. In the drama A league of a Nobleman, the author of the novel was hurt and insulted so much by the change the scriptwriter did in adapting her novel, that she did an interview saying that she don`t want to get any credit that will result from the succes of the drama, as the scriptwriter changed almost everything and only used the characters names. The authors are also hurt when the scriptwriters takes too much freedom to write the script based on their novels.
I didn`t take in consideration the reasons that Untamed managed to adapt the novel more faithfully , and why WOH, Guardian and even S.C.I Mystery (this drama also has a lot of things where it deviated from the novel) couldn`t adapt the novel more faithfully, because at the end of the day why it should matter, i only taken in consideration how much the danmei dramas managed to stay true to the story overall. The reasons why WOH should be considered the least faithfull adaptation of all the danmei dramas mentioned by me above( or in equal ground with Guardian because of the changes made to Guardian in the last eps of the drama) is because of the changed characterization of ZZS, the changes done to the dynamic of their relationship, a lot of changes and the changes to the development of the events in the story. There wasn`t a danmei drama adapted from a bl novel made until now, where one of the main characters was writed and portrayed so differently from the character from the novel like how they did for WOH. For Untamed the main characters were writed almost identically as they were in the novel, Guardian and S.C.I Mystery despite their shortcomings were pretty close. In the donghuas the same, all the characters were writed and portrayed very closely as how they were in the novel. I have a lot of experience in reading novels and watching the dramas and donghuas adapted from them, so i know what i`m saying.
I just want people to appreciate more how much work went in creating the characters, story, events writed in a novel, to appreciate originality more and for people to, i don`t know don`t brush things like this so easily. Isn`t easy to find authors like Priest who manages to write original stories like she does. Why should it matter that Faraway wanderers is more short and writed maybe not as complex as other of her novels ? Is still a very original novel and one of the best out there, things could have been adapted better. The characters and story in Faraway wanderers are one of a kind between other bl novels, and a lot of things were changed when it was adapted in the drama. Considering this, i just wish people who hadn`t experienced reading the novel and watching the drama, and ideal to do the same to other danmei adaptations, wouldn`t write that this drama is a very authentic or faithfull adaptation of the drama. By making these kind of affirmation, if would just lower the expectations from future danmei adaptations, discrediting the hard work other danmei dramas did in adapting their respective novels and give people who didn`t read the novel a wrong impression than what it is in reality. And also by writing this kind of words, it can make the fans of these novels being sad and feeling as they`re the only ones who has remained with this bitter feeling after watching the drama. At least people should not make this kind of affirmation
In conclusion, as maybe it was not answered clearly enough the relationship between Scorpion King and Zhao Jing…
I hope Lord Seventh it will be adapted in the future. The previous reply to you it was me being hopeful that the rights for the novel to be adapted was brought already. If you go in the cast section , there you cand find Priest as the writer, and if you click on her , there you will see all her others novels that will get upcoming adaptations. Lord Seventh is not added yet there, but hopefully they will adapt it in the future too, as the novel is as unique as Faraway wanderers.

I will also send to you the comment i also send to enigmatic_zephy, as i did read some otehr comments to him and i think he/she is a resonable person.
I think why people are so bothered by the coach scene and me too, is because we don`t think is necessary for Gao Shi De to be so aggresive in forcing Shu Yi to listen to him and change his mind so he will want to sleep with him.
Initiating an intimate scene forcefully like this, even if he initially just wanted to make him listen, then trying to imobilize someone and not let him free himself from his hold and even covering his mounth , not matter the reason, not matter if the person forced decided to get along with him and stop stuggling, visually for viewers is seems not right, it make you feel uncomfortable.
I`m not saying everyone will feel like this, but this scene can make viewers very easily don`t care for Gao Shi De anymore and don`t want to continue watching the drama or change the overall impression the drama let on people. If this was a movie, i could be able to continue watching, if Gao Shi De would have given a logical reason of why he acted like this or if i liked how they concluded this scene, as movies are shorter and manage to tie things more artistic and quickly.
