The hearts on their pages are just for ranking. You need to make own favorite list. There are also lists created…
I have one, just thought it would be cool to see your "likes" like on socials and maybe it was me who didn't know where this function is. It is also easier to just click a heart, than add a name to your list.
Guys. I was wondering. Is there a list on MDL of all the actors (I mean actress as well) we clicked a heart on? Like favs list? Or the hearts are used just for ranking?
A lot of posters on MDL are not the ones used more by the production websites, so should we change those too? Some promote the vip streaming service of the channel they are released by, but since they are made by production channel they are pretty much official. Just less common.
I tried and was send here to talk about it. Yes, fortunately those matter too, but for small productions and less famous titles (that have less feedbacks and reviews) even a "small" thing as a poster is crucial. I hope in the future the MDL website will find the best solution that will benefit both the production and the viewers (for example separating the points given by those who are still watching a show or already finished it / dropped was a genius move!) .
I might be wrong, but I think that the disparity could be avoided if it was possible to upload both vertical and horizontal posters on the website, but I guess it's problematic for the coders. Some would have one and some the other, but at least all would apply to the criteria poster with many characters in it (not rotated). Now we have rotated posters , posters with a lot of characters, posters with leads, posters with just one characters...A MESS.
True, but what can we do if being "beautiful" is not an objective criteria? The mods follow the guidelines and those are based on other things, not popularity or "attractiveness" of a poster. So no matter how more good looking your suggestion may be...
If that's true, that means we should change the rule FOR ALL dramas and make it something like "the poster used by more official channels". I think that marketing is important and for the production team is more fair to use the best images they provide (I found some low resolution and altered posters as well and that's a bit unfair for them..), so they can appeal to the more audience possible. I already suggested the changes for Novoland posters used on the channel Youku, but was refused since for the rule is basically the more characters the better... but again, not all poster apply to that rule here and not all dramas have posters with many characters. This creates huge disparity between different dramas on the platform. The more frequent and used ones are with the leads (and I think that's for a good reason). For sure I'm not the type who chooses to see something based on that, but generally it's an important criteria for many people.
Asking if we should do something doesn't mean I think we should tho. I think both of you misunderstood that part. For me it's not a problem at all that this drama has this poster. If it's ok for Tencent, it should be for everyone. The problem is that other dramas have less common posters, because of the rules, but I noticed they were respected selectively. A LOT of dramas had CHARACTER posters instead of drama posters. Totally biased.
The rule by definition is an obligation. If we start making personal preferences and exceptions for favourite dramas or favorite actors, the website will become unfair and partial.
My personal preference is this poster. It is also more used and recognizable as you said. But since the rule of the website states that #1 priority are the posters that have more characters, why being biased only for certain dramas? Know what I mean? For example Novoland: Eagle Flag has a confusing poster with a LOT of characters on this website, despite having posters with only the leads.
Thanks, @AvidVNTraveler!
