Pegasus Market.
PEGASUS market.
Alone the name tells about it already.
A story so whacky so absurd never heard of.
I don't watch kdramas that often but with this I was pleasantly surprised. It's so different from the typical kdramas with all their tropes.
I love that the kdrama industry is trying to broaden their horizon with more comedy.
This story doesn't makes sense.
I does not.
No logics apply no tropes no typical leads.
It is comparable to what your brain does when you have to much imagination and nothing to do.
It's like a pile of imaginative nonsense in a good way.
There is no way for me to describe all the characters perfectly but here are my impressions:
I liked alot of the cast actually. Mr Moon was my personal favorite throughout the story. He gets portrayed as a simpleton but you'd be surprised to find more.
The Chief Jung Bok dong is just.....
How to put it.... A rascal with nonsensical ideas up his sleeve wherever he goes.
I liked him too but I think he could have done even more with his role... If that is evn possible.
The Bbaya tribe was a nice addition however, they walked sometimes the fine line between stupidly funny and annoying.
Mr kwon. Had always an obstinate warily expression and I think that also describes his character very well.
A personal favorite of mine was gab.
He needed more lines and screentime!
His character came that of a haughty nervous chicken pretty close and the actor acted very well.
Oh In Bae aka the king of the customer satisfaction center. Was a great idea. I think he was a good character but I wish he would have alined with the king role even more.
For the story I was impressed. Alot of abstract interesting ideas. Not only for the storyline itself but also the environment.
The mart itself, like the chargeable revolving door, the car polishing wax that grows hair, the secret room for hidden documents etc.
I didn't expect such a wacky comedic drama to have such an emotional side.
I gotta be honest a cried a little.
What I didn't like were the amount of popculture references and gtbh the momoland fan service. I don't think fan service is generally necessary in dramas because it doesn't add to the story and feels more like a promo/filler.
For the popculture references Im ok with as long as it doesn't get overused. I often don't get the references because Im not hugely involved in popculture or kdrama land so often jokes that had that direction didn't land for me.
All in all I think it was a very innovative drama that explored new ground for kdramas and I hope there will be a season 2! It was fun to watch and much more than funny I found it partially fascinating.
