He hadn't. General Ding was the Emperor's closest ally and friend. The Emperor is sieged on all sides. Emperor was shocked at the news. The plotters didn't expect the news to reach the Emperor as fast as it did with ML barging in. Did you notice the Empresses reaction? Peace♥

She was married to someone else. It was a terrible marriage. Husband a cheating one. Treated her badly. She caught him and divorced him and was leaving when she got caught up in a war/fighting. During that time our ML who she had only just met and was protecting her. They both died together after finding the book which connected their fates. They go back to when they were children. Our FL has her memories. ML only has strange dreams. Take it from there.
