The Queen were never actually on hiatus that long like the King. In that Ep, when she woke up right with enough scenes. Ep 18 is so poorly written. How could they let off the King like that, even after it revealed he is alive, they showed 5 seconds of him while BI had more of half of the episode. Other people might think he is male lead.

His whole family including his father and his brothers, potential King candidates were framed and murdered for treason by Kim Clan. He survived and grew up as a commoner in an island. Later, after 24th King died, Kim Clan needs another King candidate who they could use him as a puppet king. And, kim clan found him and GQD adopted and made him as the puppet King becase of his dumbness (he is faking it). He become 25th King of Joseon, Cheoljong.
