As far as I know, it was originally planned for 20-episode even before it started airing. Many people doubt it how they make a normal prime time drama with 20 episodes these days. Mr Queen did achieve it. After it gets super popular, they just add a spin-off episodes with Bamboo Forest.

I could finish ep 16 with subs only now. At the beginning of ep 16, late night talk between Cheoljong and So Bong. He mentioned about one of his nightmares, is that the last moments of his life, how he will die as an incompetent king.. This scene alone tells many things.
-He already knows his future/fate just like in history records
- The real life- Cheoljong died at the age of 33, but in his dream, as an elder king.
- I feel like the whole history is about to change because Bong Hwan involved in this
- It will be a new timeline Cheoljong changed his fate.
It is all because of a person, Cheoljong's power who willing to change and go against his fate plus Bong Hwan's future day knowledge and help.
