Have seen both and lets just say I set the bar a little high when I say strong
My knowledge of Japanese dramas is woeful and ive only seen Seirei no Moribito(which is one of the best made fantasy series ive seen).... but judging by the Kdramas alone i`d say your bar was wrong...
However all these kinds of lists are always kinda personal no one is ever going to completely agree on them...so my disagreeing with you about it doesn't really mean a lot..

I was surprised by how much of an ass he was and that she doesn't forgive him at the end I will say though this was one of my first Kdramas and the ones i`d seen before usually had the leads either dying of with a happy ending and this was neither...
