i had to jump in: i think Siyoung's pathetic jealousy or competitiveness was only applied / directed to men around him.. He had developed inferiority complex ever since he met Junyoung (the oldest brother), then thinking his position was unsteady or could easily be replaced by Taejoo (the 3rd time the car scene was shown, the father was seen smiling and that got his pant twisted).

for what it's worth she came around by searching for lawyer to defend Taejoo

on a serious note did the drama ever shared characters detail? what year was Cha Segye or Shin Seori born?
