I am young too, and I feel like some scenes which other young people want in romance dramas are quite cute/hot etc, but if thats your only criteria to be watching a show full of meaning then perhaps you should go back to western shows where intimacy is nothing but a fling.

I really like this drama. I also watched You are My Hero and they barely had intimacy but the couple's chemistry and acting is what keeps the drama going on really well. I feel like these kind of dramas are better than the ones recently which are becoming more western by making everything about touching and kissing each other. Thats the charm about Korean & Chinese dramas, they are more focused about the story. I don't know why international fans are expecting something that happens in international shows in a eastern show...???

The two seasons obviously belong together despite one being a period drama and one modern, we all need to remember they split them to avoid reincarnation which is a theme banned in china

And the male lead in the first season was the stronger one

This is really not a stand alone drama

Summary is not enough. If you don't want to watch it fine, but don't complain because you can't emphasise with the moments of happiness that they have gained after going through all that pain.

I might go back and finish it to understand this one even better too

Please watch the first one, It really changes perspective, they suffered so much, I was not able to finish it, but It was truly painful for me halfway.

Yes it is not right for him to let her get 'bullied' but he really likes her and wants to be with her, his family are also linked to him though, he cant just get rid of them. And its not like Shiyi is a damsel in distress, she is old enough to make her own decisions, she is making decisions out of respect for ZSC as is he. Also its not like he does not

Respect is big in a relationship, they are skipping most misunderstandings and teenage problems and acting as per adults, respecting each other, trying to understand each other, trying to accomodate for each others situations, No one has a perfect family in real life either, thats what makes this drama realistic. Their love is what is holding this together. Just because your 'mother' is messed up does not mean you do not deserve to marry the person you want to.

If you watched season 1 you would perhaps understand this show better.

ZSC is not exactly in the wrong here when he wasn't there, and does not know about it. ZSC wants to accommodate her and live with her in Shanghai, I guess this is only an obstacle for him.
