I don't think he travels back chingu. He would die if he travelled to where his dad was because he's too tiny for all that smoke. He summons him. Dad was a lost person in the present time so he could summon him back

Nu Ri doesn't need to time travel, he thought about the dad and because he was "lost" between the timelines, he was the exceptional case that could have been brought back
