I wonder why the third brother (Qian Hongyou, aka Sun Ben, aka the Third Prince) is sometimes called A-Zuo? It seems like only his family calls him that. But usually, family members or relatives use 'A + name,' 'Xiao + name,' or 'Name + er' (the latter maybe specifically during the Song Dynasty). By that logic, he should be called A Ben, Xiao Ben, or even Ben’er. Where does 'A Zuo' come from?
Who's wei gui? Is he connected to previous members? I'm currently watching ep 2
warning: spoiler...
Wei Gui suffers from amnesia, so he even dont know who himself, he only know that the Tianzhan sword is related to his past, so he is searching for the sword in hope he can remember something from his past or even regain his memory. Later, he got a glance of memory that he once met Xiao Se, the owner of the sword. That's all we know so far. So the trio Lead of this mini drama are all related to each Trio in TBOY.
Good or not is subjective. It all depends on your taste, what genres you're into, and what kind of stuff you like,…
then i am afraid not suitable for you. this drama has an intense Political Kingdom genre (also known as High-Level Politics). so it's about war and war, politic, invasion, the misery of the people, corruption, coup d'tetat, killing for power, how to manage soldiers/officials, manage government, ruling the country. the producer try to produce this drama based on real history as close as possible, so like the real history of ancient china, women were usually excluded from political affairs, not involve in politics. so this drama is for people who loves Chinese History, most people here when watching this drama, they also googling and browsing Wikipedia to know more about the history of the past of that era (5 dynasties & 10 kingdoms). It is said that the producer cast 350 actors, and I think it's true because in episode 1 alone, there are already 30+ character introductions (all based on real historical figures). if you like to watch The Longest Day in Chang'An, The Secret of Three Kingdoms, The Advisors Alliance, Qin Empire series, Ming Dynasty, then go for it, if you dont like those kind of genre/drama, or even never watch it, then i wont recommend.

Third brother = son of SunTaiZhen mother and the kingHong Chu = son of the king and another womanSun Tai Zhen…
not really incest, they dont have any blood related. 3rd prince/brother = lady yang and the king Qian Yuanguan Qian Hongchu = king Qian Yuanguan and the queen of wuyue Sun Taizhen = Lady Yang and Sun Tingfu
Southern Tang's Emperor's Son, named Li Hongji in real history, he got the title prince of yan when emperor Li…
oh... looks like the sub is mistranslation? if Prince of Yan is the current emperor's brother, then the text shouldn't be "Emperor's brother or the Prince of Yan" (as if it identifies 2 different people^^;)
The last thing would be a budget issue as It's one of the few high budget major cdrama production in recent years.…
hm.... 350m is considered not that high for drama like this. some unsuccessful dramas like Novoland Eagle Flag had a 500m budget and could produced one of the best war scenes in chinese drama history. but NEF was unsuccessful, so that's a rather risky.
asking cause I’m curious and I saw the slight romance tag but how much romance is the slight romance rag here?…
it's like... the romance thing in this drama is making the whole historical setting feel weird and just waste of time. The female lead is unnecessary; I don’t know why they’re forcing her scenes into the show. i wont recommend this drama if you are looking for romance, this kind of drama is far from that thing.
It was only in episode 13 that I understood that this story takes place after the story of TBOY (2022) when Lei…
Actually, the first episode already hints that the story takes place after TBOY. First, Jin Xuan looks older than he was in TBOY (they even use the same actor). Second, when Jin Xuan tells the story of the Tianzhan sword to young Ye Zhixin, he mentions, '...until that elusive crown prince returned to Tianqi.' The person he’s referring to is Xiao Si, who wielded the Tianzhan sword near the end of TBOY (vs Luo Qingyang).
So, when Jin Xuan narrates the story, it is already after the TBOY timeline, and then the plot jumps 15 years forward (so at least 15 years after TBOY).
(Note: The subs say 'crown prince,' but it’s actually 'prince.' While it's a mistranslation, 'crown prince' isn't entirely wrong since Xiao Si held that title before being exiled.)
why are there so many unnamed characters... - The village chief - the left envoy - the sword guardian/the corridor keeper - the holy maiden - the green robed girl - the Tang elder -the martial senior of Lingfeng sect -Wei Gui's father
Are there any other historical dramas like this, but set in a less common era or dynasty? (not Song, Ming, Qing, Sun, Tang, Qin, Zhou, Han, 3 kingdoms)
Lei Lingze, Ye Zhixin, Hua Xiaohua, the Holy maiden, all 4 of them mentioned their shifu, but they never told us the name of their teachers or who are them
Zhao Han Qi (赵晗琪) as Zhuang Niang
i wonder who are these 2 characters?
