i have watched the Physical 100 Asian, Physical 100 korean version, iQiyi version, Japanese version, US version, this is the worst from all of them. so bad production quality, it's like you want to record the activity of someone and upload on youtube, but you dont cut anything at all, you upload all 24 hours activity including sleep.
the one thing that i like is the camp.

1. Why do some people/sources call the crown prince Li Chengyu? (for example wiki addict).
2. You forgot some characters:
- Empress Dowager of Qing (mother of the emperor) - appear in season 1
- The Empress (mother of crown prince) - appear in season 2
there are still some spaces in the table below the emperor, you can put there i think.

3. Characters that were Mentioned, but have never showed up yet:
- Ye Zhong, the father of Ye Ling'er
- Ku He, one of the 4 grandmasters, uncle of Bei Qi emperor
- Si Gujian, one of the 4 grandmaster, from Dong Yin
- Prince Jing, emperor's little brother who stay out of politics
- Director of Division 2, 5, and 7 .
let's hope all of them will appear in season 3.

4. Characters that were never mentioned at all:
- Fan Ruoruo's mother
- Mother of Lin Dabao dan Lin Gong, wife of prime minister, never mentioned
- Sisi (This novel character was removed from the drama adaptation)

As for Jin Xuan, we didn't actually see him get killed, so we can only assume he is still alive regardless. just take it like Han in the Fast & Furious series, somehow they brought him back to life, even though there were scenes that seemed to confirm his death.

There are too many plot holes. For example, the Tianzhan sword can only be wielded by candidates for the future emperor, but Wei Gui can wield it even though he doesn't have royal blood.

Btw, the Tang Sect Elder's face looks familiar. Has he appeared in other TBOY series before?

I checked Wikipedia and saw that Hu Jinsi died in 948, but in the drama, he died around 959. That’s a pretty big gap, I’m not sure why the producers decided to extend his life like that

If only they made a second season that told the story from the perspective of the other kingdoms during the same era (besides Wuyue, Southern Tang, and the Central Plain dynasties).

At the end of the day, you know your own preferences best. Since this drama is based on real events, it leans much more toward history than fiction. Do you enjoy exploring history? Many people aren't familiar with this specific era (The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms) because it’s rarely adapted for the screen.

Usually, when I watch this, I keep a few tabs open—Google, Wikipedia, MDL, Baidu, and ChatGPT. If you don't mind pausing and rewatching scenes to look things up (every episode), and you truly love Chinese history, you’ll enjoy it. Just try to keep track of the key players; it’s impossible to remember all hundred-plus characters.
