Disappointed

Surprisingly boring

I've heard good reviews prior to watching this show and maybe I had my expectations too high. However, this drama disappointed me. If you want a better version of it the Japanese one is far more superior!! Also there is this troupe that I hate with passion FL a young girl whos far inferior than the smart ml and that's I portrayed as a strong female but actually is just a follower to older male lead. To be honest big reason why I didn't like it is because I watched the jap one first and seeing this it's such a crappy knock off
I want back the many hours I spent watching this

A must watch romance

You know this drama isn't perfect it has many flaws and many exaggeration but it's still a solid drama and a must watch just because of the superb acting and chemistry of the leads I don't often have butterflies when watch a romance drama but this really really has got me screaming and just wanting a boyfriend like the ml (why is he such a handsome fine man!!) and our relatable FL (struggles and personality wise, you can't look like son yejin even in your dreams she is a total babe 😭😭) anyway such a cute healing drama would probably cut on the whole drama with the mom cauz why is dating a younger man even a problem do women only have to like older or same aged men. You are free to like whoever you want as long as they are adults. Anyway pls give it a try you will love it

Romance ruined it

You know this would be a decent watch BUT they just had to ruin the heck out of it by adding a filler creepy, awkward, meaningless romance. That nobody needed. Especially the main couple like bruh main lead looked like he was with his daughter he looks his age so why do they have to do this to my eyes, the director is one of my favs too i will just pretend that he didn't do this crap and give him redeeming points for reply and hospital series that are masterpieces, if you are considering to watch this just skip skip skip. Oh another thing is the FLs are just there for the romance they don't serve a purpose other than make me annoyed. I would give this a solid 8 minus the romance but I am sorry it ruined it for me so damn much that I had to drop several times, I was watching it while it was airing and I managed to finish it just now. A hidden masterpiece of the past

It should be a freaking crime for this to have 7.9 this is easily a 10!!! I don't get the ratings at this point cauz really bad dramas get 8 at least and this ahhh. now where do I begin?? I love love love all the characters here they feel very relatable and down to earth yet very strong despite all the struggles I love how gradually and realistacally the leads fall for each, it's not out of the blue but their romance is very long awaited. FL might be my favorite actress in the entire world just phenomenal and ml isn't an immature young boy that's why it worked out so well. This is easily a must watch i would 100% recommend it to everyone I know

Watch it without expectation

When I started this I really had different expectations episode 1 was really so cool with the 2050 cg and taeyi from the future but then it went to a different path I saw many bad comments about it and what I imagined it to be was different from what I got so I dropped it for like a month then I picked it up and I have to admit I was very intrigued and didn't fast forward much I wanted to know and understand what's next. I found that the best way to enjoy this is not using logic and accept it as a drama many of the comments saying that it's incest, it's not just because someone looks like you doesnt mean it's you present taeyi even called future taeyi mom. I just wanna say something go into this with an open mind it's lame that all the concerns are about the supposed incest like get over it. Also with the forced romance that all of you are talking about like where?? we had very subtle romance they didn't even have a kiss and all people wanting him to end up with doyoun when he never even hinted as seeing her more than a friend from the get go, with and without taeyi they would still be friends you forcing romance on him is the real forced romance. Overall it's a mess yes but it's a mess I couldn't stop watching 😂 might also be biased here cauz FL is like (for me) the hottest woman on earth, I am always so mesmerized by her beauty, one scene in particular was in the car in ep1 she looked like miss world 2050 hahaha. Sorry I am slightly obsessed
Would I recommend it? Yes BUT go in it with a very open mind ep 3-4 might be unbearably boring but after that it picks up and have many plot twist. Even with its many flaws I liked it a lot ps people need to stop screaming incest incest like chill

OVERRATED

It was just so off putting, the age gap and the way FL acted like a kid. Same Troup with cold man warm woman troupe with 0 creativity. I didn't get giddy about the it romance i literally skipped anything with skinship. I would like to review this but it's just a very generic c drama where you skip the heck out of it with no redeemable aspect whatsoever

Worst drama this year?

ml is like an ex macchina and the only powerful person there , FLs are portrayed as useless af. FL aka seolhyun can't act to save her life, it's actually very unbearable, Jamie aaaah what a waste of Lee chang ah but yeah her character is so badly written that even she can't save it. Definitely would have liked to swap her with 1st fl. For me it's the worst drama or at least in my top 10 but I see some might enjoy it with its flo

A masterpiece

It's not what you would expect, it's tons better. I think it got even better than the American movie, the ml really felt like an old soul and made me belive that he is the husband. There is romance in this but I think the highlight is the family bond, after finishing this you get a warm and cozy feeling. Can I say thing the FL is a timeless beauty seriously I am in love with her! She was just the right amount of charisma and perseverance, I really loved her attitude toward life.. She never gave up no matter the difficulties.
The daughter and son also were really good this the son was a little bit pushy and was a forgettable character sometimes. Anyway if you are hesitating go and watch it!!! Super recommend

A true masterpiece

Man where do I start?? I really regret watching this, because now nothing will live up to it ever again its this kind of drama that is made once every decade and nothing can top it, a true gem. Jang geum is such a strong, smart and refined woman seeing her grow up (ps kudos to the little girl playing child jang geum absolutely nailed it) and a shout out to ml for being the most supportive and loving lover in kdrama history, he believed in her and staked everything for her. The villains where also so well acted i felt bad for keum she actually isn't a bad person but jealousy from love lead her to do many wrong doings. The story is divided in two for not giving spoilers to people she first does something and excels at it then finds her true calling by doing that other thing. While I was watching the last eps especially I kept thinking this has probably been hundreds year ago since it's based off a true story yet to this day women have to fight for their rights because of jealous men and taboo and because of women with internalized misogyny. Uh aside for her journey to become greatest figure in chosun the friendships and the relationship with her and lady Han was so wholesome and the ending of them just heart breaking i bowled my eyes watching it. The queen is also a very important figure, I ended up loving her a lot tho she did make a mistake with the prince. Some dramas have inflated rating esp now most of these are pure trash. This one of the few dramas that really deserved 10. Great Great one

Masterpiece

It's not everyday where you find a drama this well made the main characters are truly likeable and close to the heart, FL is a strong woman that also values family above all. This drama is about obsession, family plus the love in here isn't abrubt or out of nowhere it builds up slowly I just really really loved it!! I wish sk would make more of these type of dramas rather than youth historical dramas with bad cheap clothing made out of polyester. Anyway this drama is very intriguing and not predictable where people will eventually get what they deserve in good and bad. Highly recommend I have rewatched it countless times and still not bored of it it's on my list of best historicals ever made along with Empress ki, the legend, princess man

Choi yoojin made this drama!!

Choi yoojin I just can't put enough how phenomenal her acting was, whenever she was on screen I was hooked I wanted to watch more, a rare complex not black and white character. A strong woman with many flaws. This is the first time I love a villain even more than FL (I love yoona, I am actually a girls generation fan, but not her best drama ). Not gonna lie the score being this high isn't because of this being a masterpiece, no this is sometimes a hot mess, I skipped most of FL and ml scenes it just was forced and very clichéd. The chemistry between Choi yoojin and jeha was just something unexpected, they didn't have any romance together yet even without that they had more chemi than most couples in kdrama. I just want another drama with these two! I feel like I have been robbed, just give them a drama even with a slight romance. And yes that's why I gave it this score because you can't find a relationship like what jeha and Choi yoojin had in any other drama. Kdrama masters pls pls pls make it happen. Toxic romance

Can drama makers stop romanticising student teacher relationships this stuff is creepy!!! I will never ever see this as love, don't even try selling it to me. A weird emotionaless older man that is a teacher falling for his student who seems to be the dumbest most generic fl that's annoying too. I am open minded but these dramas with man being a teacher a ceo creeping on a young girl that doesn't hold the same power or maturity is a very dangerous concept irl, I take drama as it is without thinking too much of it but this one really makes you think wtf?!? If I was the FL I wouldnt want me and my teacher to be in a relationship that's insane. Give it a try

Honestly seeing the reviews made me postpone watching this drama for awhile, so for anyone who is hesitanting pls give it a chance. Rating in this site really don't corrisponde to the quality of the dramas!
ML has a double role one as quilong ( present) and the other zhang (past) and I personally think he nailed the execution of both I give him a b+ just because sometimes he would go over with zhang, like he would be silent and way too collected but still I got immersed in it and could differentiate the two of them
FL(1&2) we have 2 Female leads here one is wanglin (present) and one from the past (ziyi) played by different actresses. I have no problem with ziyi acting i think she did well BUT God was her whispering voice annoying at the beginning and some parts but I got used to it after a while, as for wanglin I love her character more at the early episode i think the actress couldn't really act some scenes so I skipped some stuff tho not much.
Now for the ending I don't want to give spoiler but big reason why I give this an 8.5 instead of 9 is the ending with ziyi which I will not reveal but wish they just rolled with what happened already without the restart thing
Overall it's a very light hearted watch especially if you like time travel like me, I loved it and I think I will re-watch it soon

Another weird and generic drama

The romance between the two leads is really hard to watch there is no chemistry whatsoever esp for the FL. The ml is and looks like he could be her father. Seeing the rating is really baffling to me cauz there is absolutely nothing that is redeeming about this story it's a mess like most cdramas I just had to skip so much, the leads were just awkward if you are normal you don't want to see an old man romancing a young girl old enough to be his daughter as I connect it to real life I don't find it anything swoon worthy, for the acting I guess they tried hard they aren't bad actors tho FL can be really annoying sometimes. Anyway they couldnt save the mess that is this drama might also contribute the fact that I don't like age gap dramas with ml being an old middle age guy

S tier drama

If it continues like that I really think it might end up being one of my favorite dramas of all time!! I want to list the things I love the most about it
The cinematography is just insane! The acting doesnt feel forced or cute, all cast are just really good veteran actors, I find myself intrigued more and more not only for our main leads but also for example awu mom story with her dad I want to know more can they give a whole ep about it? Probably asking too much. Fl is really really stunning btw and zitan too. I am slowly warming up to our general tho not quite there yet. If you are debating whether to pick it or not pls do so it's absolutely mesmerizing, immerse yourself in the drama and don't listen to miserable people who take age too seriously. I assure you fl doesn't play a kid like character at the beginning more like a teenager and that would last for only 3 eps. Give it a chance you will get hooked
