Maybe ... I respect your opinion, well I was just explaining why HJP is such a strong second lead male, and why many of us love him , because as you may know HJP has really stolen our hearts, just look at how many comments not only in this website but in other ones like dramacool and youtube where a great number of people cherish and support HJP. Yes NDS may have a his charm but it's not enough to win over HJP character popularity. But now it's too late for the writers to make NDS bloom, because HJP has already stolen our hearts. Blessings
So after reading lots of comments in different websites, I came to the conclusion why HJP is such a strong second lead male that almost a 70% or 80% of the audience have fallen in love with him or at least they sympathized with him. Ok here the reason I found:
-Well some say it's because he has great acting skills and you can see how he stands out in every drama he is, so that's why he is kinda overshadowing NDS (I agree with that)
-And the other reason is the writer, as you can see the first character who appears in episode 1 is HJP, it's strange because 2LMs usually don't appear first, they normally come along with the other characters and even some of them appear in later episode. Also we must take into account the screen time that is given to HJP, he has almost the same screen time as the first leads, that's another odd thing. So I believe the writers did it on purpose, they created a strong second lead male (maybe they wanted "Start up" to be different from other dramas) , but now I think they don't know what to do, because HJP stands out more than NDS, so somehow they are trying to make HJP a murderer (no fair) so the audience can focus more on NDS, but there's another thing NDS is not progressing, he is staying the same like a static character, maybe they wanted the 1ML to be different from other dramas where the 1ML is usually charismatic and good; but if they wanted to do that, they should make the character progress, like he could be a loser in the beginning but then he reflects and acknowledges the wrongdoings of his past actions. But sadly that's not happening, and that's why HJP is overshadowing NDS, because HJP is a round and dynamic character, as you can see he changes through time, you see he was an orphan and he had no money but he managed to get over his situation and become a successful person, and that gives him depth to his character, so that's why many of us grew fond of him. (I totally agree with this point)
-Finally I've heard some people say that HJP is the protagonist (because he is the one who started everything, as you can see if he hadn't written the letters, nothing would have happened) and NDS and SDM are the main characters. (I somehow agree with that)
