Just my opinion: i think it comes down to how good the director and script is...if those are average, no one will…
the #1 complaint I’ve seen from kfans seems to be about the Japanese actress being a right winger. so the script and director could be amazing but it doesn’t matter to them. honestly id be lying if i said i wasn’t a little concerned.. we all know how sensitive Koreans are about their history with Japan. i can already see kfans and knetz creating a ruckus and a witch-hunt if this gets confirmed.
the reaction from his kfans are blowing me. it’s not even official just a rumor and they’re already crashing out. anyway for those who are curious why his kfans are upset 1. they don’t think Korean Japanese co production dramas are any good and there’s no demand for it. 2. This type of script is usually for upcoming/rising actors and it’s beneath jcw’s pay grade. 3. The actress is apparently a right winger and jcw working with her could hurt his image and reputation, cause a political controversy/scandal etc 4. They feel like jcw is focusing way too much on Japan and Japanese fans recently . 5. They think Japan is using Korean dramas and kactors to boost up their own actors. basically using the hallyu wave for their own benefit.
some people are concerned they might tone down the drama and make it less explicit .. I’m concerned about the amount of nudity we might getting just seeing who the director is and his past works.. a movie director who is known for his explicit sex scenes.. who rarely uses body doubles and loves showing frontal nudity. but at the same time I doubt any of the senior actors like syj and jcw are gonna show anything. but praying for all the lesser known actors participating 😶
I get that the writer and directer wanted this story to be fast paced but I think they went a little overboard. New characters be popping up without proper introductions. It keeps jumping from one scene to another. Characters are teleporting everywhere. It’s a constant go go go. I kid you not, I be so confused half the time. Blink once and a character is in a totally different location and we’re already on to the next scene. The short run time and editing makes the fast pacing feel worse. It’s sometimes overwhelming.. not in a good way because too many things are happening in 45 minutes like can we slow down! There’s also gaps the viewers have to fill in ourselves bc nothing is explained or shown to us.
Jaehee and Gilho being the only two characters that I care about. The only two characters that are compelling together and apart.. now one is d*** and the other has little screen time despite being a main character. Gilho moving like he’s a support instead. Like someone mentioned.. all this screen time for these evil men instead of one of your main characters like why?
And I truly don’t care about yeseo. She’s overstaying her welcome.. now she’s replacing jaehee as the girl we got to save? When her predicament and character itself is not as interesting and frankly annoying lol. Dongwoo is the protagonist but what’s his character arc? He’s just reacting to everything happening around him and now looking for his daughter.. and the prosecutor lord help me that whole plot with her is boring as hell. She’s in a completely different drama from the rest of the gang lol.
Despite my complaints I’m still going to finish it for Gilho. I’m also curious to see how the hell they’re going to wrap everything up next week. Fingers crossed it ends with a bang.
Why is everyone blaming Disney for the deleted scene? Isn’t it the director who decides which scenes stay or…
It is the directors decision to edit out a scene but I blame Disney (and sanai pictures) because they’re the ones in charge of all the promotional material. Nobody forced them to release still cuts, 3 teasers, a highlight video, thumbnails, hell even the bts/making video that includes that scene. Don’t mislead your viewers by using a deleted scene to promote your show. It’s deceiving your audience. And the same exact thing happened with twoe. once is whatever but to happen twice to a Ji Chang Wook drama under Disney is starting to become a pattern.
Welp so they did delete that scene. Need Ji Chang Wook to stay away from Disney Plus after fabricated city comes out. this has happened twice now. Might happen a third time. Can’t even trust their trailers anymore.
In jcw’s bts for ep 3-4 it shows him wearing the leopard fur coat.. I thought that money throwing scene was gonna be shown in the first half but still nowhere to be seen yet. I’ve been waiting for that scene ever since we were given the first sneak peak of the drama back in February .. hope it shows up in this weeks ep. Idk twoe has given me trust issues with them deleting that scene of junmo despite it appearing in the trailers and promo. Hoping it wasn’t cut lol
On whether gilho loves jaehee or not… i mean you don’t look at a person like gilho looks at jaehee in that ring fight scene if you’re not in love with them. It could be platonic love but junghwa was also one of his girls.. he literally finds her dead body and he didn’t shed one tear! Yet he sees jaehee with an injured face and he literally starts crashing out lol
From all the info we have so far, jcw’s character is a pimp and it’s implied that bibi’s character works as an escort/prostitute so… yea lol. So they essentially work together lol. But he cares about her for real and vice vera but whether that’s romantic love or platonic love, jcw pretty much said it’s up to our interpretation.
Oh so it’s more of your own hunch/prediction than an actual spoiler? .. either way based on what we gotten so far I highly doubt we’re going to get anything spicy or intimate between them. But not gonna complain if I’m proven wrong haha🤭😂.
Oh! Just from the plot, actor interviews, and the reviews I’ve seen for ep 1-3, it doesn’t seem like they would have that type of relationship.. but let’s see lol I’m curious about your source.. did they watch the show already? Haha
Ji Chang Wook fans are mad at me for pointing out the obvious. Do you see Lee Song Juk or Park Seoo Joon taking…
Ok hold your horses. He’s not taking a backseat on anything. Queen Woo as a whole was mid but his role was not lol. The king was the most interesting / the best part of the show and even the negative reviews highlight this. As for revolver he played the villain so.. self explanatory.. Gangnam b side is the only show where he’s second lead and even then early reactions mention his character the most. And you have to remember all the projects were pretty much filmed either simultaneously or back to back within a few months that JCW literally said he had to get less sleep in order for it to fit his schedule. Let’s not try to downplay his hard work just because he’s not billed #1. Anyway Sculpture City where he’s the main lead is coming in 2025 so wait for that I guess!
Did some lurking to find any crumbs on this show but apparently there’s gonna be a sex scene and nudity involving the fl. The production company was recruiting a female body double for the fl a few months again. I wonder which male actor/character the fl is gonna be shooting these scenes with lol
I don't see what the problem is. Some people struggle to express their emotions verbally as doing so will make…
But we don’t get hand grabs. We get wrist grabs. As you said jcw and shs are very expressive and can act with their eyes. So why can’t the director direct a scene just utilizing these skills instead of also relying on a dated Kdrama tropey gestures. Seems like they just want to take a short cut when there’s a million ways to make a scene romantic/emotional/poignant without relying on wrist grabs. Like the ml can just walk in front of her.. cup her face.. work their eye acting in the process.. something so simple. I’m sorry but I just don’t find “ml grabs fl wrists while turning her in slow motion, both stand there awkwardly as they have a staring contest as ml continues to hold the fl wrist” to be good directing. It’s unimaginative, cliched and corny. This happens twice (kiss scene and sunset scene). I’ve seen this exact scenario play out in kdramas that were released in like 2013… Maybe I’m just nitpicking at this point but imo it’s a disservice to the actors of their caliber. Our leads deserve better material and direction than whatever they’re getting right now. lol.
Seeing two talented and experienced actors still being forced to act out dramatic wrist grabs in slow motion is something... Jcw and shs are too good and too grown to still be doing all that. Free them please. I’m starting to have beef with the director. I’ve been shit talking the writer this whole time but I feel like it’s the corny directing I have more problems with. Let them do romantic scenes without these tropey and cliches gestures. It looks like the actors are acting out a romantic scene and posing for the camera instead of it coming out naturally. That’s how tropey it is. I wouldn’t care that much if it was a silly little romcom but it’s a slice of life.. and the show takes itself seriously..
I am wondering what would be the character arc of Yongpil.. Is it going to be one dimensional till the end? For…
Unfortunately that seems to be the case. Even going by the official released character description and actor interviews his sole purpose is to love and support the fl. Everything officially released highlights the healing of the fl.. doesn’t say anything about the ml. Maybe we’ll get something regarding his mom’s death? But I think it’ll be too late by the time we get to it. I’ll keep watching and enjoy it for ji chang wook’s and his chemistry with shin hae sun. But I hope for his next romance drama he gets to be a character outside of his love interest.
The Ferrari guy is the 2ml who has a one sided crush towards the fl aka we are getting a love triangle. This particular…
The little sister has her own love interest. He hasn’t showed up yet. Don’t know if they’re gonna lean hard on the love triangle but one thing is for sure, the ferrari guy likes samdal and will probably have quite a few scenes with shs. you can already see him in the 3rd ep preview when samdal accidentally puts the laundry over him.
The thing is it is not that ml cant move on it is that kdrama writers have to write his character like that. Why…
Yea I def understand the complaints. I don’t like when relationships are one sided but I think both samdal and yongpil loved each other equally. I don’t think samdal completely moved on since she seems to be triggered just by hearing his name. We’ll probably find out that samdal still loves yongpil but she just buried all those feelings because its too painful for her. So she chose to date multiple men to fill in the hole yongpil left. And samdal got over her cheating ex very quickly. If she was really that in love with him I would think she’d be more upset. But at the end of the day, the cheating ex is just another guy for her. the only man she ever really loved is yongpil.
