the trailer was a nothing burger but it wasn’t bad. the main poster however . not being dramatic one of the worst posters I have even seen lmao

fr.. compared to untold scandal’s trailer this isn’t giving streamy, romantic or rated 19. it’s giving thriller melodrama.

not only that but just in general the whole promotional roll out for the scandal so far has been terrible. teaser was released late and now the main trailer is also late. every 2026 Netflix kdrama had their main trailer no less that 14 days to release date.. yet scandal is coming out in 12 days and nothing. the same still cuts of the main 3 actors with no brand new info..

I checked Nippon TV’s website and all of their dramas this year had 10 episodes so there’s a high chance mbl will also have 10 episodes.

unless that girl in 0.35 sec mark wearing the red and green hanbok is sook.. but she could be anyone lol

idk maybe because sook is supposed to be a 16 year old girl and the writer/director thought her storyline wouldn’t fly in 2026 lol. and we still haven’t gotten her casting despite being a major secondary character. Also jeon doyeon’s version had that innocent vibe but she still acted and came across as confident grown woman.. Nana is not giving that at all in the teaser.

I have a feeling they combined Lady Jeong and Sook’s characters, because why does Nana look so terrified and almost childlike in every scene in the teaser? and all the scenes she has with SYJ too. if I’m not mistaken in the og film and other adaptations they barely interact?

I mean this is a jdrama so how much of a hit can it really be lmao also most Korea x japan collab dramas do lukewarm at best.. the scandal and human x gumiho are much more important.

The US is even more strict with their ratings lol. In Korea those two dramas are only rated 15+.

In the US, it’s rated TV MA which is equivalent to rated r. For some reason, pretty much every Netflix original kdrama has a TV MA rating even when there’s 0 sex or nudity. like Boyfriend on demand and CTLBT are TV ma like what lmao

I’ve noticed Korea is more strict with their rating system that they slap 19+ for any show that has a hint of sexual content. From what I’ve seen on X, scandal is rated 16+ in other countries like Japan, so probably won’t be too explicit.

I don’t think that’s fair assumption on jcw tbh. maybe he wants to challenge himself and do something he’s nvr done before. same for nana. this is also a drama remake of a very successful rated 19 movie where the main cast were all successful actors and 2/3 of them did do nudity. and why remake a rated 19 movie if you’re going to remove what made it rated 19. no one wants to see a watered down version when we can just watch the original movie. now I respect whatever decision the actors chose for their roles. no actor should be forced into doing nudity. but there’s a reason why some fans have certain expectations. that said.. I do think theres a low chance of jcw and nana doing nudity but if they do end up doing it, I also won’t be surprised.

So apparently filming has wrapped up in Japan.. unless they’re going to film in Korea too.. is the drama only going to be like 20 minutes an episode lmao. idk how drama production works in Japan but it only took 2 1/2 months to shoot an entire drama? Fromt what I’ve seen most Nippon TV dramas are 10 episodes and 40-50 minutes long.. maybe Japan is jsut really efficient at filming bc kdramas take like 8 months lol.

I’m def excited to see him pushed beyond his comfort zone. We already got a glispe of that in Queen Woo. But it also got me thinking.. Since many A list actors tend to avoid provocative scenes/nudity, I’m curious if JCW is actually going to go all out for Scandals. just based on his interview, the Korean movie, and the director’s past works it seems to be going in that direction. but they could also play it safe and tone it down due to the cast. it could go either way lol.

I’m sure they discussed it with him when he was offered the role and it was written in the contract that the character requires sensual scenes. So I think instead of being pushed to do anything.. he 100% knows what he signed up for.

this is why when jcw mentioned him being pushed to his limits by the director I was kinda like ???. because I also watched the movie and it honestly wasn’t anything too crazy or intense. nothing really happens until the last 20 mins. so I think they might have adjusted the script or something to make it more dramatic.

Has he ever said this about another director? I’m lowkey terrified but also excited and intrigued at the same time.
