I’ve always thought that Wuji knew who she was and was trying to give Fuyao’s destiny a different ending. Like he knew she was the one he had to kill. But after all, your theory does make sense.

The ending wasn’t that good. It was like a 5 min wrap up. It was a rushed one but it was satisfying to me. I just wish they would’ve prolonged the happy ending instead of rushing it

So basically Fuyao is a slave and she has a major crush on her senior brother. But he’s engaged so when she found out, she tried to break all ties with him. Her senior brother has been ordered by his father to kill Fuyao. The butler saved Fuyao thus loosing his life in the process.
Fuyao is now free. She goes through many hardships with Wuji by her side.
Later it is revealed that Fuyao has been destined to destroy all of the three realms.
Lots of plot twist with many romance. But I won’t tell you the plot twists because what’s the fun in that?! But you will cry, laugh (very hard), get second handed embarrassment, and get very angry sometimes. But give it a try. It is my favorite Chinese drama.
I binge watched it and went through a emotional ride. If u have nothing else to watch, this is for you. Light hearted romance and full of secondhand embarrassment. Give it a try. U might like it.
