Yes, it's annoying that Kang Ning won't even tell him the truth about how his mother is treating her family. I…
At least it is only ep 6 so we have 30 more episodes to either see them get better together or become more entangled in a mess that will only clear up towards the end. I am hoping for the former :)
Okay I have watched until ep 6 on Netflix. I sti like the show and the quality of the production. I feel bad for…
I think they use the cousin as comic relief, more like a satirical portrayal of a misogynistic husband who ultimately ends up at his wife's mercy. Just like his other attempts in the past, this recent scenario was the same. I am okay with him because he truly loves his wife.
She clearly thought about what to say to her soul mate when she finally finds him :)
They also need to communicate. Chai An was right to be upset about her not trusting him. He can handle his mother just fine but she made the decision for him without talking to him or explaining to him.
I was just thinking, Chai An likes Kang Ning and she also likes him back after ep 5, will their relationship be…
Yes, it's annoying that Kang Ning won't even tell him the truth about how his mother is treating her family. I was hoping for this couple to have strong communication at least.
i havent watched ep 5 yet but i saw someone commenting that they didnt like "the way chai an plotted and delayed…
Yes, that was true, and I was disappointed. That's when I reminded myself that it is a historical drama. Plus, I think they use the cousin as comic relief, more like a satirical portrayal of a misogynistic husband who ends up at the mercy of his wife ultimately. Just like his other attempts in the past, this recent scenario was the same.
As I responded to @TianD, Chai An's character development was focused on himself so far and had not extended to influencing his cousin yet. He does indulge his cousin but at least at the same time, he also constantly scolds and warns his cousin not to mess around with other women.
It's only ep 6 so 30 more episodes to see how Chai An will continue to progress.
Concerning Chai An as a businessman, I don't see why he should have to yield or go easy on them because they are…
Those are my thoughts too. Chai An certainly has his flaws but being a good businessman is not one of them, and like you said, he only meant to trick her, and was never really mean.
It was not quite a developement because same time he encourged and taught his cousin to let his wife suffer for…
That I agree. Chai An's development was focused on himself because I am sure he will be a wonderful partner to Kang Ning. I would love to see his change also influence his cousin.
Like others, I was annoyed by the male characters' attempts to "control" their wives or partners. I have to remind myself that this show is set in a historical period, and the social expectations of women were different then. In almost every historical drama, I get frustrated watching the old-fashioned, misogynistic, and unfair views of the characters. The good thing about this show is how the male characters do not often get away with terrible behavior. The bumbling husband of Fuhui, for example, has never been successful in trying to oppress his wife.
To be honest, Chai An was not that bad. He started off as a typical businessman protecting his business. Yes, I supposed he could be kinder and give up some of his profits to help a family of women, but why should he? Still, it's nice to see his character development starting with ep 5. He's willing to admit his mistakes, and while he is still proud, he is also straightforward and sincere. His confession to Kang Ning was so sweet, clearly it touched Kang Ning's heart.
I just hope that the battle between the mothers is not going to ruin our enjoyment of the couples' romances. Instead of the male characters, it's really the mothers that are the annoying ones.
I know - this is a young cast, I am surprised that someone would already have anti-fans :(
For this show, I am surprised. Usually, it is the ones with some major stars. Anyway, I am sure the ratings will be fairer once more people start watching.
Darcy initially seems stupid, remarking that he doesn't care for women whom other men slighted and refusing to…
That is Darcy's silly pride making him blind and close-minded. You're right, they made Chai An proud but he is more aware and observant. I already like him from the beginning ;D
Your pfp makes my heart flutters, Blossom and WTPR๐.๐ฏ agreed with what you said. Our c drama, Mr Darcy.
Waiting for one or two 2025 drama couples to give me the same butterflies in the stomach feeling ๐ I've always like Wang Ying Xue - he's fitting as our prideful Darcy!
Enjoyed the first 4 episodes. I am always up for a women-centric drama and this one feels like a refreshing change from the recent ones where the focus was more on the business building. After learning so much about tea, jade, silk, pearls and peonies, it's refreshing to now watch more of the family drama.
I am excited about the cast, especially Lu Yu Xiao, Liu Xie Ning Chen He Yi and Wang Ying Xue. They may be young but they have done well in their past dramas.
With a slight variation, the family of women is very much like the one in Pride and Prejudice. I really like the interactions between Kang Ning and Chai An. Chai An is so much like Darcy, and like Darcy, he fell first. I look forward to seeing how the misunderstandings will be cleared up between them.
So far so good. I cannot wait to see the other couples forming.
I have been on an adrenaline rush the whole time as I binged through all 8 episodes. Every single one kept me on the edge of my seat and yet, there were a lot of good comedy too, weaved subtly through the tense scenes. The ending with the slight reveal was such a surprise and impactful.
I have not see Ju Ji Hoon before this and he totally impressed me as the SOB ML who knows what he wants and how he wants it, and almost all the time he is totally validated in his actions and decisions. His crew is amazing too, and they are so entertaining to watch. I have seen Choo Young Woo as the ML in other dramas and again, he did really well as the bumbling resident. Kudos to the other characters as well including Kim Won Hae who played the villain - he always brings the best to his roles, and Kim Sun Young who somehow brings a certain flair to her characters.
There should have been a fantasy tag for this drama as well since a lot of the medical successes were just plain amazing and perhaps unrealistic. Having someone as fine, skilled, talented and brilliant as the ML too is borderline fantastical.
I hope there is a season 2 because this was an run and entertaining watch. It would be great to see the team officially assembled, taking on more medical challenges.
Not a bad watch at all. After finishing Miss S, I started watching this, which put me in the mood for more crime dramas in that era.
Most of the cases were interesting, and I liked how Luo Fei, the ML, resolved them. There was some intelligent plot writing there, but there were also some weak moments. The ending, for example, could have been tighter and sharper.
Bai Yu and Ji Chen acted well, as did most of the other actors. Some characters were laughable like that Ye Chang Qing - he did some ridiculous things that should have been taken off the police force.
Great sets, costumes, cinematography, and use of music.
I would have rated it higher if I liked the FL more. The actress was fine, but the character had most of the character traits I don't want in an FL: reckless, senseless, and gullible. For a rookie cop who was supposed to be at the top of her academy, she did not show much intelligence. It does not help that she was often portrayed as being simple, mainly because the show often used her as the ignorant one, and the ML often would "mansplained" to her. Such a missed opportunity for a good strong FL.
The other annoying part was the forced romance. No matter how romantic the music was or how long the lingering stares of Luo Fei were, there was no chemistry between the leads. They are better off as a pair of quibbling crime-solving partners. Along with Ben Jie Ming, they make a great trio! Luckily, the romance was just a minor side plot.
Overall, this show was entertaining, and the ending was not bad for me. Since I didn't care about the romance in the first place, what happened to the FL didn't matter to me. As for the ML, it is what it is since there's still no season 2 after over 5 years.
