I’ll check out your musings since I like how insightful they are. Just like your reviews :) I guess one story line would be them working together. I like the concept of her being undercover. Better than a girl gone astray and then turn straight because of love.

I don’t know - he’s just got this depressed vibe. I know why he’s like that but it’s not appealing to me. That’s ok though since I’m not watching the show for him. It’s all about the cases. I just don’t want the show to end up being about their conflicts… girlfriend in the underworld ending up being his moral dilemma…stuff like that. Anyway, yes - glad that the second case was solved. What started as revenge became just blind murder…so sad.
So after ep 6, Gong Jun is not drawing me in: in fact he’s bringing me down with his constant mopey sulky look. I know he has a troubled background with unresolved issues with the FL but I hope this doesn’t play out to be all about the romance. The cases are the ones that interest me now and I really hope that is what the show’s main focus is. Hopefully the no romance tag means just that.
In ep 21 - during the court scene, I felt like they were acting out a script. Turned out they were indeed improvising, all protecting one brother in the end, who remained clueless until his uncle had to yell at him… I really like seeing the brother bond so far!
This drama embraces its clichés and absolutely nails everything. Stellar FL, amazing ML, chemistry on fire, great besties, a surprisingly complex SML, an excellent OST, and a VR game that adds flavor! Easily one of 2026’s best so far!!!

The saddest part for me is that we lost the great chemistry the couple had during the investigation. Sure they were all cute in Season 2 but it didn't have the same feels.

I agree - if the character was truly meant to be completely inhumane, and ruthless, the actor simply didn’t embody that level of cruelty convincingly. There’s a clear gap between the extremity of the character’s actions and the emotional weight the performance delivered, and that disconnect made it very clear. Probably because of the miscast, I saw him more like someone trying to convince himself of his own inhumanity and less like an absolute monster.

Intentional or not, I find the Zhongshun Company funny…

I appreciate the dialogues between Hu Jinsi and his son - they usually help me better understand what's happening.
What happened to Lord Feng in the show btw? I read up a lot about him but wondering if I missed anything in the show after he left with the Khitan.
Thanks for sharing.
