Me too maybe I was used to watching dramas with grim reapers with them getting reincarnated or something. But this drama has more of a realistic take about death. Just like ramwoo said that nothing happens after you die. We’ll never know whether he really vanished or if there is even a concept of reincarnation in the premise of the drama. Just like heewan all we know as viewers is that he is gone. That’s why I cried so much bc it felts like I lost him as well and has to mourn his death. No one knows what happens after death but one thing is for sure the memories and existence of our dead love ones will never disappear as long as we exist to remember them 🥹

I think they only disappear if they directly meddle with death and extend the life of someone instead. Just like the dad grim reaper who disappeared because he helped her daughter. Even after a week together and when ramwoo disappeared heewan still wanted to die. She would have jumped if ramwoo didn’t appear to stop her. From that on ramwoo already meddled with death and extended heewan’s life so I think that’s when a grim reaper finally breaks the rule and disappears as a punishment.

I just saw some parts posted by korean readers on twitter. I tried to read some reviews also. There’s no eng trans for the book or any free copy of it as well 🥲

I tried to check out the novel this drama is based on and there are a lot of different things between the drama and the book. In the novel hw dad & rw mom fell inlove with each other. RW learned about it so he was confused about his feelings. Their parents were about to announce it but the accident happened. I dont know the full details but hw thought that rw died but actually he was like in a coma. Then he appeared as a grim reaper as she only have one week left to live. Rw learned from another grim reaper that he can give his supposed remaining life to someone. So rw decided to give his life to heewan and died instead. Their parents got married and had a daughter they named Ramhee a mixture of heewan and ramwoo’s names. So the ending was like ramwoo wishing heewan a happy life as well as his little sister and then he walks back and heewan looked at his back walking away while smiling and thanking him.

Edit: I forgot to add. In the novel there’s no such thing as changing of names for april fools. Thats why in the book grim reaper ramwoo told heewan that if she wants to die peacefully she must call his name thrice. That’s when heewan refuses to call his name as she didn’t want to let him go.
