I forgot to mention, the fact that the FL didn't kill the Empress Dowager earlier meant that she acknowledged…
I may have been tuning out at the end but it seems to me there should have been a more impactful conversation between the empress Dowager and maybe the female lead or her son.

You can edit them out..there are 3 dots next to your name..life savers
Thank you very much. I had pressed those dots and all I got was Cher but maybe the rest was off the screen or not active or something. So now I know. Thank you. I would not have tried again thinking that was not the right thing to do.

This is a question that has long plagued me 😊

I too was disappointed in the ending. To me the emotional climax peaked too early- episodes 32-34 when we understand the reasons for her emotional/attachment dificulties- two episodes that I found lyrical and even elegiac.

The Empress Dowager arc ended anti-climactically. I did not think the scenes of her dead academy mates at the end were at all well placed. I also think the scene where the rebellious prince is killed was presented as though we were supposed to see him as a complex figure who regrettably went down the wrong road but I did not feel that way about him at all. I did like the visual of him with all the arrows sticking out of him, still standing. The ML showing up to help her end the fight did not sit well with me. I can see the symbolism of it but it felt like an unnecessary add-on. Perhaps a way of circumventing the grand battle scene.

Her presentation at the beginning is not of someone who had ben scrounging for food by herself for 6 years! Was this referenced in any way?

I thought the get her pregnant arc was weird. It was offputting that we did not know whether they were intimate or not. Perhaps I blinked and missed it. With such a build up about pregnancy should she not have become pregnant. Maybe she did, but I slept through it, watching in bed after my codktail.

I enjoyed the drama up to episode 34 or so so I do not regret watching. It is yet another cdrama historical that failed in the final stretch.

I was very disappointed in this drama. It failed to develop the time travel transmigration plot in a logical fashion and did not address the themes of the difference in the eras that led to ambitious women being branded as villains in past timelines. I have been concurrently watching Jang ok Jung which is doing an excellent job of addressing that theme. I am also rewatching Chicago typewriter which develops the relationships between the two timelines in a much better fashion.

ep9The actual dramatic tension is only being upheld right now by Choi Mun Do -- how far will he go, how evil is…
I find it very interesting how people feel the chemistry is being carried by one or the other main character. I think it is being carried by her. Not that she is all in for him but that she has complex feelings about her response to him.

Perhaps there is something about the story or the choreography of their scenes together. That is not quite gelling.

I am really excited to see where this drama is going to go with the transmigration reincarnation theme.

Legend of zhuohua is by same writer and I think is better stars male lead of Minglan.
Yes, that was a good scene about the flute. I recently watched the scene on YouTube. I'm not there in the drama yet.

I never watched married but from the description of his character it sounds like he did a good job with his acting if you hated him so much.

After I watched minglan I tried to find other dramas with FSF. I did try to watch something which seemed very low-tiered. I will have a look at palace listing right now.
He was very beautiful when he was young.

One of the best lines I have heard in a Chinese drama is when he describes her this way. "Her brain is exquisite."

Their relationship is so mutually respectful and tender that I only miss the skinship a little bit . He's so clearly adores her. There are several scenes where he is trying to let her know how much he likes her and those scenes are s*** in themselves.
I am at episode 20 in my rewatch.

Something about a splendid match made me think of rewatching legend of zuohua. I began to think how similar the dramas are and then I found out they have the same screenwriter.

I think legend is a more cohesive drama. I am beginning to be bothered by elements of the jealousy plot in a splendid match. I just read that this drama is adapted from a time travel transmigration novel. It feels as though plot lines have been inserted from the novel without the context that was in the novel and that is jarring for me.

I am rewatching right now and yes it is very funny and the relationship between the two of them is so nice. I like him as an actor. He communicates so much with his eyes and is quite humorous in his acting in a subtle way.

You stopped at the right moment 😭 Such a waste considering how strong it started.
It is difficult to stop here but I know I would be unhappy with myself if I continued. I am always curious about what it is that affects my enjoyment of a drama and reiews like yours help me become a more discerning viewer.

So I am watching Dream of Golden Years and that feels like good decision.

I have stopped watching after episode 30. The plot density and pacing is just too much. I had been very much enjoying the character led story. Thank you for your review. A pity since there is so much that is good about this production.

Review Shine on Me
I also did not think the best thing was all that great. The unaddressed boundary violations bothered me to start . It was a while ago I watched it and I can't remember details of why I did not like it but it was not Interesting to me

Review Shine on Me
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. I am afraid this drama will be excruciatingly slow for me. I did not like hidden love for that reason. I did like you are my Glory.

I loved sniper butterfly. I thought the psychological nuance was well Done and the themes well delivered.

Shine on me does not sound like a drama.I would enjoy, judging from your review.

I found your review going in through this show page. This is\nThe kind of drama one might miss if 1 went only by the M d l's score And some of the Not very well, thought out reactions to an age gap romance. Reviews like yours.\nAre very helpful to me when I am choosing a drama.
