It's pretty good! Really!

Geez, ya know I was thinking "oh no not another baking series", now I'm like "ya know this should have been a longer series. " Seems too short and the writers got lost a few times. I can see the writers going like "oh shit we only have 2 episodes left." LOL
Seriously folks, the cast was really great. Ohm is a so-so acter but I really hated Shin in this series so I have to say Ohm did a good job at portraying an unlikeable character. All Guide has to do is smile and he's adding to the series. So with all it's flaws this is really an 8.0 series but I rated it a 9.0 that's because the cast was so strong even with a poorly written script...AND the rating here on MDL is too low. Yeah it's not right but that's what I do. (lol)
I would have liked to have seen Atom with someone and yeah Guy and Oab would have been sweet.
BTW I thought Grandma was just great.
For sure someone with a keen insight could have made this into an 8 or even 10 episodes and improved the story line.
This was so close. It is still watchable and for me rewatchable.
Lastly, It's better than most of the other series that have been airing the last half of 2023.

It's not a zero but....

I was so excited after I watched the 1st episode. I thought this is going to be a good one. Everything went to hell for me after the older Suansoon went to the past and met the younger Ongsa. I couldn't get over the creepiness of the younger to older. I kept waiting for someone in the series to mention how inappropriate it was. Yikes for sure!
Then the double return to the past to keep one then the other from dying just didn't make sense. Also, no details on how the returns happened or why they happened. Did they just will it to happen?
Then the crying started between that and the constant rerunning of other senses from other life paths was just boring and uneventful. This series could have been great.
The younger couple was much more believable and genuine than the older couple. The producers should have seen that and utilized it more.
The music was overly dramatic and repetitive. Not enough variety.
I fast forwarded thru most scenes after episode 6.
This was a big disappointment.
I did like Nun played by Sine.
Tor and Mix should get the lead in another series. A typical BL with those two would have been an 8.5 for me for sure!

I guess I'm dissenting...sort of!

I guess I'm dissenting. I did give it an 8.
First the good stuff....The story line was intriguing and the production and music was excellent.
For the main characters, Hsu Kia made the series. His charisma and magnetism was off the charts in my opinion. Taro, Nat , and Louis (Bai, Eddie Chen) were all very good and had some strong well done scenes. However, they did not have the consistent on screen attraction that Hsu displayed. As couples I was initially into Fan and Bai but that changed around the time Bai dropped out of medical school. I tried to get into Eddie and Chen. I kept thinking I was missing something after seeing all of the post about how they were the better couple, etc. I never felt it.
Actor-wise the side/secondary characters were all generally strong.
I did think there was some choppiness to the story flow and then some stangnet areas.
My dark filter of this series may come down to the fact that for me there was too much violence and blood.
The cameo's were cool and yes I would have loved to see Jake Hsu and Chris Wu. That would have been sweet.
I am a very big fan of the History series. I'm not sure how connected this series is but I'm hoping I will enjoy their next effort more than this one.

Is it or isn't it?....

It's weird...It's not weird...it's weird...it's not weird..and the final verdict is ................................................................................................................................................................IT"S WEIRD.....

Seriously maybe I need to watch this again....I think I kept thinking they were going to cross the line! The 1st Ep really put me off! Maybe I didn't catch a lot of the attributes I see posted here in other reviews. I'll admit another viewing mabe be needed here.
Yes, ??to writers and producers for presenting a different type of human relationship and the turmoil associated with same sex relationship in a still very unaccepting world....no role models...no family or societal acceptance...In an over-all general sense. I could go on....which this lack of emotional support all leads to insecurity, communication issues and in this case weirdness.
However, to me this series seems like a stage play that was adapted to film. I think it needed more density. The intent and intensity seemed very inconsistent a lot of the time.
I kept thinking Yoh was going to run away... and I think he should have!
To me his internal dialogue didn't match his outward behavior which is troublesome for me to watch and see. I hope to see Mashiko in a less controversial BL in the future. I think he could be very charismatic in the right role.

It's not a 10 but...

Well for sure it isn't a 10 rated BL series, but it's not a 3. Truth being that for me, as long as Joong smiles a few times an episode I'm satisfied! Also if he raises his eyebrows' and goes shirtless once an episode that really can forgive a lot of script weakness.
Yes the "Hidden Agenda" was not hidden for very long nor was it hidden very well at all. Therefore, this is for sure a "B" BL series...similar to B Movie. All the other stuff was acceptable, music was kind of generic for me. (yeah minus Joong singing.) Story was generic. School stuff Generic. Family was uneventful.
Joong was a good cast for Joke but I can't say the same for Dunk as Zo. I'll leave it at that. NIta and the Grandmother were good female characters.
My only other cast issues is what happened to Pat? Pok and Jeng are fine but Louis as Pat is the next most interesting actor in the entire series. It's like he fell off of the screen. (Did I forget something)
The Finale could have had a more secondary character involvement and I didn't really get Zo or the the fathers moment of realization: "oh I'm being a wanker and I should stop!" Not done well at all!

Yes it's watchable and yes it had some good entertaining spots, but yes it's time for Joong and DunK to grow up. No more school series for them please!

Edgy

It's dark, It's dirty, It's Hong Kong and it's real. Too real for some I'm sure. I had to stop and readjust my expectations a few times. You know... like it what for what it is not what it's not.
Anyway, I'll say it again, this is not a BL it's an LGBTQ+ real life kind of stuff.

I want to give it a 10, but as some have said maybe it will be redone and the longer version will be at or near a 10. I think it has the potential.

My favorite scene is the drunk scene in the streets with Damien and Hayden. It really was quit telling for me.

The grandmother was also great.

Let's we if we get a remake.

If you're looking for different raw and dirty. This should be enjoyable for you!

It's OK

I'll get right to the point. It's not the Thai version and for me it never obtains any of the magic and awe that is in the Thai version. For me there was a flow issue and a clarity of intent issue with the actual scripting. I never really connected to any of the characters. I have a bit of a crush going on for Lee Jung Min, he was the most likeable character too. The females were all good, that's a plus, but the guys were difficult to get with for me. Otherwise quality was good, cinematography good, set scences etc. The music was ok. Watchable for sure. Rewatch not so much.

A suprise great series.

Congratulations to all whom contributed to this awesome series. It was very engaging for me from the beginning. For sure it is not perfect and there are somethings that could have been better, however sometimes there are intangible aspects that in my opinion raise this series up to be labeled a classic or at least a boundary breaking work of art. This series will be watched for many years if not forever. I was truly moved. The cast for sure placed their heart and soul into their performances which again raised this series to levels the script could never do alone. The entire cast was very strong in my opinion. For sure Tommy Raynold and Rabin were outstanding. Bravo. Special shout out to Marnie and the mom for being great affirming female role models. This series displayed some great emotions and some good human lessons. I enjoyed it very much. Bravo!
The music 2 thumbs up for sure!
PS as usual the rating for this series ( I that think is great) is too low on MDL.

it could have been better...a lot better!

I liked the story or the intended story however I don't feel like it ever really manifested into a cohesive story that was believable and convincing. I liked the character Ham a lot, but Jun did not come off to me as believable. Jun also changed without any reason or drama to make it seem like an event. I believe that was mostly due to bad script writing. In a few words it could have been better...a lot better! Also, This is a short that wasn't short enough and wasn't long enough. Secondary characters were not particularly important or scripted well in my opinion.

Shorts are too short...

Shorts are too short...When i like them!
To me the story was top notch. I should also say that I have issues with giving shorts a 10 even if I think it is all round top notch. It is a conundrum, that I punish a short for being short because I wanted more time with the story, and the characters. However, with this series I believe the delivery was inconsistent. Both in story and character delivery. (Ok say something nice)
I really liked the secondary characters. Especially the CEO.
With the leads I feel that Shin KT actually felt more for Wan, even though the story line tries to tell the story to the contrary.
Again, I loved the story. A long and maybe a better fit, but I always say that about shorts I like.

A classic series for sure!

Has to be this series will be a classic that is watched for many years to come if not for eternity. I was moved, engaged and totally with this series. Congratulations to the staff and the actors. It was awesome to see someone with mental health issues from a trauma appear as normal as anyone else. Also, to share their therapy experience is a break thru in my opinion. Done with grace compassion and integrity. The cast was probably the strongest I can think of. The leads (Im and Oh) were amazing, Yeong Woon and Jung (Boss) were the most excellent females. So where the 2 freshman friends especially Ae RI. The roommate/childhood friend was amazing too. The music was top notch and was noticeably great many times. Cinematography, setting, pacing....The only thing is I'm wondering if Ep 10 was an add-on. I at frist thought the end of episode 9 would have been a more complete and dramatic ending. Awesome, experience and enlightening series. Again, congratulations to all involved.

I wanted to really like this series a lot.

Geez, I wanted to really like this series a lot. I kept thinking that the story is developing something, so I waited for something to happen, and it seems like what happens is usually a bridge to another development. Even the ending is a waiting game.
Also, I feel like there were a couple of things that happened that cross the line. Placing something in a drink could be a criminal offense. Even if its soy sauce.
I say I wanted to like this series because of the childhood trauma that Jos Tae experienced. A worthy undertaking for a series to do. I really am going to take issue with the Hickey scene cop-out and the lack of one decent kiss. Kids in high school and college kiss. Even same sex kids. Please don't insult your audience anymore if you (the producers directors etc.) decide to do another BL project.

Sometimes it took me 3 days to get thru an episode, but I did make it. There is so much to say about this series. There are so many polarizing aspects to this series I don't know where to start. Seng as Toh needs an award for best creepy actor. I felt weird sometimes with his scenes. Too creepy for me. Seriously he was believable and did a great job. I did like Billy as Nuea...The transition to openly liking Toh was weak and the idea that he actually liked Toh was a stretch for me too. Tohs friends were very supportive and did have some really great moments. Like I said this series had a lot of extremes both good and bad. I loved the idea of the series and it had its moments but I didn't really like either couple...daisy and touch...I could have liked it but I didn't. This is one series that could have trimmed down and I think done better. However they did do pretty well because I believe like me most of the audience saw the extremes as imaginary quirkes comes to life.

Awesome series

What a great BL series. Congratulations to the creators and the actors. Whomever selected the couples too. Bravo! I'm not sure of the story made the actors or the actors made the story. Both really! I didn't like the episodes coming out on 2 consecutive nights. I think the series would have had more impact with weekly releases or at least 3 days between episodes. Kaotung as Giapa gets the best actor award and Alan as first runner up. Almost wining with the most difficult role. Heart and Li meng was also ground breaking and fitting in the series. With that in mind I wish we would have seen more of those characters. Overall, this series for sure could have gone for 10 or 12 episodes. A sincere congratulations again to the entire cast and creative staff. Well done. I really enjoyed this series! Also a shout out for Saleng.

Disappointing is the verdict

Oh geez! There was certainly a lot of sweet and touching emotional events that occurred in the finale. I'm going to accept the H4 inclusion in the finale as a positive. Still, it doesn't make up for the issues of the previous 9 episodes. In my mind there are only two noteworthy scenes in the first 9 episodes. They are the boxing scene and the lightening rod scene. The latter being hysterically funny. Both rose to the level I expect for History series. I would have liked to know how did He Bo aka Johhny get to 2022? Was it divine intervention or a freak time warp coincidence? Anyway, Wynn gets the best actor award. I never did take to Liang even though he was reincarnated in the finale. We could have seen Linus Wang shirtless a few more times. It would have helped in some episodes. Lastly, I have to congratulate Elaine Ho as Se Mo for being likeable and understanding of her role. Most females in BL's are not likeable and are usually annoying. Yeah, overall, it was disappointing. At least the finale was good.
