After seeing the preview for the next episodes and the way some people have been acting on other socials, I genuinely hope we can still talk about the episodes here without getting jumped for it 😭 Let people react, speculate and discuss in peace without turning every conversation into a moral debate. 🙏🏻

Oh no, I was actually agreeing with you 😭 I just used your “prepare yourself” comment as a jumping-off point. Because from what I’ve seen on other platforms, a lot of people really aren’t ready and I bet this comment section is going to be chaos 😭
But yes they will probably tone down a lot of scenes

Before going to Lu Feng’s office he put on their ring that now is a necklace. (It’s the same one Lu Feng rips off in the trailer)

I actually see your point, and I agree that people often overlook Yi Chen’s flaws while focusing only on Lu Feng’s. I’ve always thought both of them were toxic in different ways.

That said, I still think the necklace scene felt a little manipulative. Not because I think Yi Chen was trying to hurt Lu Feng, but because it felt like he knew exactly what that necklace meant and what kind of reaction it could get from him.

At the same time, I completely understand why he did it. He was hurt, he still had feelings for him, and part of him probably wanted to know if he still mattered. That’s what makes the scene so interesting to me 😌😌

So I don’t really see it as malicious manipulation, but I also don’t see it as a completely innocent gesture. It felt like a very human reaction from someone who was still emotionally attached and hoping for a response

That scene in Episode 8 left me dumbfounded. I can't understand why Yi Chen went back to find Lu Feng after all…
I think that’s exactly what he expected.

The problem is that Lu Feng loved him so unconditionally for so long that YC started taking that love for granted. Deep down, I think he genuinely believed that no matter how much time had passed, no matter how much pain he had caused, Lu Feng would still be there waiting for him.
And honestly? The fact that he showed up wearing the ring necklace and even took off his glasses before going into the office made it feel like he already knew exactly which emotional buttons to push.

He was pretty manipulative in my opinion

Exactly!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This is what frustrates me the most.
People keep talking as if Lulu's choice was somehow easier because his father was abusive, as if being cut off by your family, losing your name, your inheritance, and everything you've ever known isn't terrifying.
Do they think Lulu wasn't scared? Do they think he didn't love his family at all? Did we all collectively forget the scene where he cried after his father's death?

And it frustrates me terribly that people often talk as if the only thing Yi Chen did was agree to the marriage.

But that’s not what happened.

Lulu was willing to lose everything for Yi Chen. Even after finding out about the marriage, he was still ready to be disowned because, for him, nothing mattered more than being with Yi Chen. His sister literally had to force him to think rationally.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen didn’t just end the relationship. He blocked Lulu’s number, threw away his SIM card, disappeared for five years, and continued a marriage he never wanted long after his mother’s death.

People reduce the discussion to “he was forced to get married,” but the marriage was only the beginning. The years that followed were also a series of choices, and those choices had consequences for everyone involved.

The amount of people defending Yi Chen’s mother is honestly concerning.

You can sympathize with Yi Chen without pretending his mother’s request was reasonable.
A parent asking their gay child to leave the person they love, marry someone else, and become “normal” is not an act of love. It’s homophobia.
You can tell to yourself what you want to sleep good at night but it’s still homophobia.

Also there is a reason why viewers compare Yi Chen and Lulu in the first place.

And it might be a shock, but It’s not because they hate Yi Chen.
It’s because the story gives us a direct comparison: both men were asked to give up the person they loved for their families. Lulu refused. Yi Chen didn’t.

That doesn’t make Yi Chen a bad person. It doesn’t mean he didn’t love Lulu. It means that he chose to act in that way. And people are allowed to have an opinion about that.

But please stop acting as if Lulu’s sacrifice was somehow easier, or as if Yi Chen’s mother was justified because she was dying.

A deathbed wish doesn’t automatically become morally right.

Hopefully with what happened at Zhang Linghe’s event this news will be overshadowed by that one. (But in both cases it’s awful what happened and China should really do something about saesangs)

I don't understand, everybody talk about how many sacrifice Lufeng did for Yichen, sacrifices?. He is not even the…
I don’t think anyone is saying Yi Chen should have abandoned his mother while she was dying.

What many of us struggle with is the idea that his only option was to agree to her demands.

He could have stayed by her side, cared for her, supported her, and still refused to give up his relationship and his identity.
Maybe some of you don’t fully realize how serious it is to ask a gay son to stop being gay, and to use a deathbed wish as moral pressure to make him comply. That’s not a small request. That’s asking someone to sacrifice a fundamental part of who they are.
A dying parent deserves compassion. That doesn’t mean they are entitled to ask their child to spend years pretending to be someone they’re not.

I can understand why Yi Chen felt trapped. What I can’t agree with is treating his mother’s request as reasonable just because she was dying.
