I understand the issue a bit, really sad to see ZLS being treated that way. "I Quit", she says. I hope it doesn't mean what I think it means (quitting the industry).
Definitely standing on her side. She was suffering from depression since 2019 because of the way her company treated her.

It also shows how manipulative the entertainment companies are. I hope XK frees himself from YZ's company and starts his own studio at this point. Do not join any other company.

With the exception of Arsenal Military Academy and The Legends (unfortunately, The Legends is not on Viki in my region), all his other iQiyi dramas are not streaming on Viki.

I am guessing AMA and TL were last of iQiyi dramas to stream on Viki. After 2020-21, they didn't sell licensing to Viki anymore for any of their dramas. The only exception I can think of would be Love Between Fairy and Devil, which Viki somehow managed to get license from iQiyi.

And yes, from SEL to ABAY, all are Tencent dramas.

Oh yeah, I don't like that she did those horrible things, but I still can't help but feel bad for her. She is a rape survivor, and the man who raped her was her brother, so I get where she is coming from with her treatment of her son, even though her son is the most innocent in all of this.

Pretty dark story.

Before I jump into that, I must say: I read this novel a few months ago. And I read quite a few novels since then, so I probably am mixing things up with another novel storyline. So if any other novel readers feel that I am wrong, please feel free to correct me.
Also, I don't remember the details exactly as they were.
Another point to be noted, I have only started watching this drama last night, and I put it on hold after watching until ep 2, so I don't know how things are panning out in the drama.

So, here we go:

ML's mother's family is pretty rich. She falls in love with a guy and marries him. They have two children, one of them being ML. But the twist, ML's father is not his mother's husband. She was raped by one of her brothers, which resulted in ML's mother getting pregnant with ML. ML's mother didn't want to keep the child, but her father convinced her to keep the child and, as compensation, he would hand over the family business to her.
The guy who raped her later died. Her husband also died.
Anyhow, the guy who raped her was extremely possessive of her, from what I recall. ML's mother sees the same characteristics in ML. ML often gets extremely jealous of his brother getting all the attention. And his mother can feel that. She also sometimes, for weird reasons, feels that ML also has incestual thoughts about her. I guess that's her PTSD kicking in. Also, ML's brother, too, dies. And if I remember correctly, ML's mother suspects that ML is behind it.

Personally, I feel bad for his mother in the novel. Putting oneself in her place; would anyone have any good feelings for a son born of an incestuous rape? I know ML is innocent in all this, but that is a huge mental burden for her to see this child and not think of the rape.

Note: I may be remembering it wrong, but she is not blood-related to the family, though. She was adopted, I think. Other novel readers, please correct me on this.

Well, in the novel, the mother actually thinks that her son, the ML, has incestual thoughts of her. 😵

There is something more darker that happens which makes her think like that. That is why she avoids him.

Not a fan of the ending.
The drama team probably did not expect the drama to do this well, and so they originally filmed an open ending.. after seeing the reception the drama received, they scrambled last minute to shoot an epilogue episode confirming HE.
Anyhow, that royally pissed me off, that they originally decided to go for an open ending instead of the novel's happy ending.

Xu Kai's iQiyi dramas don't often show up on Viki though. Thankfully, he isn't doing many iQiyi dramas.

That's why I'm hesitating and not dropping it right away. I'm liking the chemistry, but the "not setting clear boundaries" thing is kind of a deal breaker for me.
I will keep this on hold for now and see. I will keep an eye on the MDL comments section, follow spoilers for future episodes and decide if I should pick it back up.

I'm just commenting on the fact that she was never together with her ex-boss in the novel.
I'm now hesitating whether to continue to watch the drama or just drop it because of all that I have read in this comment thread.
If FL is together with ML, and she is not setting clear boundaries with other men, that is huge no-no from me.

I read the novel a few months ago, so maybe my memory is failing me.
From what I remember, FL and her ex-boss were never together in the novel. They did share a kiss one night at a hotel when they were drunk, nothing beyond that. Of course, that was before the FL left the company and went back to her hometown.

I'm very excited for both the dramas. I'm happy as long as MR airs right after LOTFG without any further delays. Especially given that both XK and TXW did so much promo this month, and it was all wasted away because Tencent couldn't stick to the original scheduling.

I read LOTFG novel a few years back, and re-read it recently. One of my favorite novels, so I'm definitely going to jump into it as soon as it is released.
Btw, the original novel author is also the author of The Double novel, so my expectations are high.

I believe it climbed up until 8.6, FIYS had 8.7.

Both had 0.1 down one or two years back. I have once seen ALP on 8.4 just a couple of months ago, but shot right back to 8.5 a couple of hours later. Was so mad that day lol.

Regarding FIYS, I was also incredibly excited for that drama that I had to wait for a while before starting ALP.
After FIYS was done airing, and I got confirmation that ALP has a happy ending (another reason I waited, to get the confirmation of a HE), I dove right into it.

I have to say though, I much preferred ALP over FIYS. I was initially more excited for FIYS because I loved the novel. But ALP completely won me over.

Yes, he was asking forgiveness because he left first.

In the novel, the FL also leaves a month after the ML leaves.

Why though? They lived until their old age, that's as happy ending as it could be.
