In TL case, it was never on iQiyi (or on any other platform) in my region, unfortunately. For 5 years I have been checking, there's nothing, and only today when I accessed the link you shared did I see the 'Coming Soon' thing on iQiyi. Hopefully it will be available in my region too. In the meanwhile, I have already downloaded the Viki version in 1080p. I will revisit the drama soon when I have time.
The thing with TL is that it's not available on any streaming platform in my country, including iQiyi. I have searched extensively for an official streaming platform to watch back in 2020, just a year after its release. It wasn't available anywhere. So, if TL was an iQiyi original drama, I don't know what's stopping it from officially streaming it in my country? They didn't sell license to any other platform, and as an original streamer, they have every right to stream it on their platform.
Btw, in the link you shared, it is showing as 'Coming Soon' and is giving me the option to reserve the drama. lol, I hope so.
Didn't know AMA was an iQiyi original, lol. Missed that, and also OUATILM. I actually watched AMA on Viki, OUATILM on Netflix. So, I didn't figure they were iQiyi originals. Yeah, they were very successful. Thank you for clearing that up.
The Legends is not an iQiyi original drama. Cause if it is, it would be available in my country, and it's not. It's not even on Viki here. I had to watch a low video quality on a pirate website (that was back in 2021, I think). Thankfully, just last week, I found a website where I could download the Viki version in 1080p HD. Will need to revisit the drama again.
The only dramas I knew were iQiyi originals were DOTSE and LIKM, and I consider them not successful.
I like that Iqiyi also promotes their dramas very well. I guess my only complaint is that Xu Kai's Iqiyi dramas didn't do that well. I hope this drama breaks that curse. 😅
That was how it was in the novel. However, it makes more sense in the novel because the ML and the FL didn't know…
Trust me, if the drama followed closely to the novel, the drama would have been one of those pathbreaking dramas. But the scripwriter didn't have the guts to take the novel route and played it safe. And the result is what we have.
#AsBeautifulAsYou ranked second on the Maoyan TV series effective play list yesterday even after this long! Maoyan's effective play volume yesterday was 51.299 million and cumulative playback volume exceeded 2.2 billion!!!
Song Mo's father has a worthy contender for the most useless C-drama Father crown, and that is Li Ni's father.…
😅 At least the father here came to his senses in the end, Song Mo's father is just plain despicable. In terms of uselessness, I would rate Li Ni's father higher. Song Mo's father, if you ask me, ain't useless, he just doesn't like Song Mo and does not want anything good happening to him. So he's not useless, he just doesn't care for his son.
Well, A Ying saw Young Master Cui as her brother at that point. So yeah, she would be sad he died, let's establish this point first. Second point, A Ying and Shiqi are very much into each other. Even though they haven't been vocal about it, it is kind of an established fact. Imagine liking someone romantically, the other person also likes you and you know it, then that person just watched as your brother fall into a possible death and did nothing to help. Would you not be angry at them? If that person is nothing to you, maybe you would not be angry. But it's because Shiqi means something to her, that's why she is angry and disappointed. Same goes to her being angry at Shiqi for thinking so low of her to assume she played a part in setting up Shiqi's army to die at enemy's hand. She would not have been angry if she did not like him. She was angry and disappointed because the person she liked would think of her like that.
-She was 14 and he was 26 when they first met, and from that day on he's pursuing her.-They get married when she's…
It may be normal during that time, but we can still feel uncomfortable reading such stories. It was also common practice to keep slaves or beat wives during those times, but would you not feel uncomfortable watching those scenes depicted in novels that you read or the dramas that you watch?
-She was 14 and he was 26 when they first met, and from that day on he's pursuing her.-They get married when she's…
Agreed with everything you said. And they are not "Historical" novels, and there's a reason why I try my best to not use the word "Historical" when discussing dramas/novels set in Ancient China or Ancient anything to be honest, it's because the novels are fictional pieces written in ancient fictional setting. Since it is an ancient fictional setting, why not make it that women marry late? I know authors like to keep as much semblance of being "historically" accurate as they'd like for these novels, but given the current situation, where there are lots of pedos in positions of power, some even as world leaders, it is uncomfortable to read such stories.
I am not surprised at all!Sigh );Many of you thinks he is not popular but honestly Industries knows his value.
I'm sure a lot of the actors who got left behind in the list have bigger fanbases than Xu Kai does, but fanbases do not bring full numbers. They barely scratch the surface of the final number. What Xu Kai has is the attention of passersby. He's also loved by other actors' fans, too.
Some people care too much about comparing him with other traffic actors or his popularity. It's clear that he…
I think the numbers are telling something; that his dramas are getting lots of viewers from the passersby. And I'm sure that's exactly what Xu Kai wants. Passersby don't care how popular an actor/actress is, they care about how good the drama is, how good the performances are,.. Strong fanbase, and popularity based on the said fanbase, may do wonders on the heat index and other meaningless stuff like that, but it barely reflects on the real numbers.
-She was 14 and he was 26 when they first met, and from that day on he's pursuing her.-They get married when she's…
In the novels I shared, the FLs are mentally a lot older (with the rebirth and/or transmigration thing going on), most of the times even older than the MLs, although physically they are under-age. I guess that helped me not mind them so much when reading.
-She was 14 and he was 26 when they first met, and from that day on he's pursuing her.-They get married when she's…
The only ancient setting novel you might appreciate would be - The Duke House’s Ideal Daughter-in-law FL is 18 and ML is 16 at the start of the story. You might find the ML too childish though.
In most cases, FL ends up being 14-15 and ML ends up being late teens to early 20s. Those were the respective ages females and males usually get married. Females would get engaged before 14, get their hairpin ceremony done by 15, and get married before 16. Beyond that, they were considered leftover women. At least, that's what the most c-novels taking place in ancient setting made me believe.
There are, however, way too many rebirth stories. FLs would live a lifetime (horrible, in most cases) before they go back in time to their younger selves -- 13 or 14. The MLs would be late teens or early 20s, no rebirth. So it kind of is a mixed bag, like do you think the FL is too young or too old?
If you haven't already, I'd suggest below novels, where FLs have been reborn or transmigrated (older women well into their 20s usually transmigrate into early teens):
1. The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage 2. Eight Treasures Trousseau 3. Transmigrator Meets Reincarnator 4. To Be A Virtuous Wife 5. The Dreamer in the Spring Boudoir 6. The Rebirth of an Ill-Fated Consort 7. Transmigrating into the Female Supporting Character with a Good Life in a Laid-Back Novel 8. Rebirth of a Star General (Zhou Ye's drama - Female General, the same writer wrote Malicious Empress and Ill-Fated Consort)

Lol, your pfp looked like KSH until I opened your profile.
I saw your pfp and was like, "well well well look who's talking". Thankfully I had the mind to check out your profile before responding to you. lol
But yeah, I completely agree with you. I read c-novels a lot, especially the ones set in ancient China. In most of them, they don't go around talking about the ages all the time, and also, if the FL was 14-15, the ML would be around 19-20 most of the times. And I can take that, as in the historical context, people matured early, and people died early too. But I really can't take FL being 14 and ML being 26. That's stretching it too thin for my liking, so I chose not to read this novel even though I am a fan of XK. I hope the drama not only changes the FL's age to 18, but also change the ML's age even younger.

I strongly recommend the novel. Link to the translation, if you wish to read it: https://whimsicalreads.com/series/as-beautiful-as-beijing/volume-1-starry-sky/chapter-1/
