Li Li is the novel. She is one of female lead's best friends. She's the one who played the match-maker between Shao Yichen (FL's ex) and his new girlfriend behind FL's back.

I guess I will have to judge the drama on its own merit then.

It does have english translation, but it is going super slow. Like 1/4 of a chapter per week release. They have been working on it for more than 4 years lol, and they still haven't completed half of it.

Yup, that is also based on a novel that I've been wanting to read for a while. The novel does have great reviews, and I know bit of the plot by reading spoilers of the novel a while back. If it is half as good as the novel, then it would make waves like The Double did.

The Double is also based on a novel I've been wanting to read lol. Waiting for the translation to complete. I have enjoyed novels of the author who wrote the novel The Double is adapted from. In fact, the first c-novel I read is from this author.

I just hope that HT does not have romantic feelings for JX from the uni days. I hope it's only good impression.

He does stop. I'm talking about the drama dynamics. I don't like that Han Ting was having a friends with benefits relationship with another woman while having feelings for Ji Xing. Doesn't sit right with me.

There are quite a few dramas in c-drama that have actually not failed the original novels. We are just speculating right now, so let's hope for the best. I am going to try my best to watch the drama on its own merit and not compare it with the novel.

For me, that line was everything in the novel. If it doesn't have the same effect in the drama, then the drama failed the novel, if you ask me.

Yup. I don't mind that, but I'm a bit sceptical on Han Ting having feelings for Ji Xing from University days.
Han Ting's famous line--after Ji Xing asks him if he loves her --does not make sense if that is the case.

Han Ting seems approachable in the novel. He is 'warm on the outside but cold on the inside' kind of guy there.

Tencent can release both LYF and ABAY at the same time, since they are not of same genre.

Way to go for the scriptwriter to ruin a near-perfect drama in the last half of the last episode. Utterly disappointed that they thought they could pass it off like this originally, and only shot the extra episode after seeing that audience might be pissed off royally if they didn't give a conclusive happy ending.

Ah, I got it. I'm thinking in terms of original ending. The extra episode was only shot this week after the success. Otherwise, it would have been an open ending. And a very lame one at that. Cause everything that happened in the last half of the last episode was complete bs and is not deserving of a sad or open ending. I would be super pissed at this show if it weren't for the 5 minutes happy ending in 40.5.

It is an open ending if it isn't clarified if the main characters survived or not. From what I see, it is not clarified at all. That last scene could be interpreted as a dream sequence, or something that happened in after-life.
