LOL, yes, I think we have discussed about it in the "Judge Dee's Mystery" thread. Even I don't really finish one free episode in a day as I feel bored watching it. The current "free" storyline is not appealing at all.

Lingsu's death was so sad as well but at least it's canon.
They were indeed too many Nan Lan and Tian Gui Nong's scenes until my mom and I wondered why they took over the story and we barely had Hu Fei or MRF in some episodes.
There are surprisingly some humour sprinkled in this serious show which I appreciated.

My mom also loves historical dramas. I think she can stomach a lot of palace politics like "Empress in the Palace" and "Story of Yanxi Palace" which mostly are harem politics but she watches "normal" politics as well.
Yes, I think Western dramas do the genres better. I think the most popular recent one is "Only Murder in the Building" which I think is good and hilarious as well. True about Chinese dramas are improving for their mystery genres.

Thanks for the links. I didn't even know there was a 2010 version, I thought there was only the 1994 version. Either one definitely is a masterpiece because it's "The Three Kingdoms".
I get my mom* to watch the "Secret of the Three Kingdoms" based on your recommendation. It's a good show despite highly fictionalized. So thanks for that :)
*I'm the one finding C-dramas for my mom to watch.. I only watch some which I'm truly interested in which is mostly detective and mystery shows. Otherwise, most of them are for my mom to watch to fill her time.
